Well it looks like we'll be moving early next year. I just wondered if anyone had any golf course reccomendations for the East Dorset / West Hampshire area?

I've played Meyrick and Queens 20 years ago, but wondered if I should be considering one of the private clubs. I've ruled out Ferndown purely on the £1200 a year membership and the £2.5k joining fee!

I'm looking for 18 holes minimum, club comps, roll-ups (as I won't know anyone), and ideally not to much of a pain to get to. Rules out Purbeck!

It needs to drain well, not play on temp greens, and generally be open all year round. Not too stuffy as well.

Any suggestions?

I guess Hayling Island GC is out of the question? Might be expensive, but playable all year round and a fantastic course. Not sure about the stuffines and when I played there a couple of years back we had a very warm welcome.
