Since when do the FA give a toss about the fans. Fleece them as much as possible and do what you can to make their lives a misery. Its a reprehensible governing body just below UEFA and FIFA. On the plus side the "fitted" version is no good to me these days so thats off the shopping list and I rarely go to pubs to watch matches so no need for me to fork out at all.

I can't fully understand why someone would buy one of these. If you did, everyone you know that was aware of the price tag would think you are a moron. £90 for something that will be obsolete by the conclusion of the group phase at the World Cup seems like poor value to me.

I hope Brazil win the tournament and won't be planning my schedule around watching England play either.

Im not sure the FA can take all the blame for this one.

Nike and every premier league club in the country do exactly the same...

Modern day football is one big rip off. Which is one of the main reasons I stopped going.

Joining the golf club is cheaper than following my local club as I used to.

Any adult making a concious choice to wear a football strip in any other environment of actually playing football deserves to be ripped off.Grow up,& stop wearing trainers when not doing physical exercise too.

So when exactly are people not allowed to wear trainers as part of casual wear ? Is there an age limit ?

I agree with the football shirt philosophy but not the trainers.

I like my retro adidas... And i'm very nearly 50....

Not giving up my converse boots for anyone and I am 41. Not quite the same but I have worn rugby shirts all my life it England, Tigers or my old playing shirts. I have no problem with that. I do, however, have the common sense not to buy the new, skin tight rugby shirts as it looks like I have been laminated.

The problem is that the FA sell off any control they have over pricing. They sell the rights to Nike who can then produce and sell them at whatever price they like. I am not as concerned about the pricing, I am more concerned about how regularly they change. Once a year is bad enough but the last one only lasted 7 matches. Really, how much can they do to change a white shirt with 3 lions on it.

Agreed.

I don't get it, it's 40 quid at sports direct? Even at £90 it's not too much, my 2010 World Cup shirt, has seen so much use, and i wouldn't contemplate the new one if the 2010 was Super skin tight now.

Well if that's what they want to spend their money on - can't say it impresses me so I'd not bother. Sure there are plenty cheaper makes out there pretty much just as good. But bear in mind in eyes of many I'm an untrendy 'make-do'. See if I care. :)

Yes - when you are a grown-up, you should probably wear shoes when mixing with the general public. Some choose not to and that is their prerogative but perceived wisdom is that a jeans and trainers combo is something of a faux pas. Sports shoes are for sporting activities. That is what they are designed for.

On a related note, if you have any three-quarter length trousers / shorts that are not made of tweed then perhaps incinerate them at your earliest convenience too.

Nope, never seen the point in spending GG money. I also used to buy a new Leicester Tigers shirt every year (still have all of them going back to the mid 80s) but stopped when they changed from traditional rugby shirts at £40.00 to skin tight game shirts at £80.00.

I must say, I've seen the Chelsea football shirts at only £20 / £30 at the moment, cheaper still for kids. I'm sure that it's because they'll be 2 new kits next season, but it's reasonable - Adidas golf polo's are around the £20 / £30 mark...

That will be the case. Sadly the habit of having a new kit every season has even spread to rugby now. It used to be that the kit only changed if the sponsor changed. At least the Tigers only change 1 of their 3 kits each year.

On the plus side, it is far more fashionable to be seen at the rugby in a classic shirt than the latest one so there is less clamour from kids to have the up to date one every year.

I don't know what the fuss is about. Buy a Scotland or Wales one they'll be much cheaper. For people who think that trainees are only a sporting item, they haven't a clue. They are "leisure wear". Probably the ones slagging trainees off have jeans and "sports jackets" on, jumpers tied over their shoulders or a nice socks and sandals combo.

Don't wear track suits - what do people wear with shorts then ?

Sure you don't.

As for what to wear with shorts, the appropriate sports related training shoe, or if on holiday I suggest a pair of havana style flipflops, will avoid your feet smelling like the mersey.
