A few new ones for me this year, not as many as I’d like:

Coxmoor
Hollinwell
Sherwood Forest
Forest Pines

Hopefully play more different courses next year

Only the nine new ones this year - unusual in that our 'Scottish trip' was (mostly) revisiting old haunts rather than new. And some of the new ones were cheap public courses, as one of our party has a rather archaic view on how much a decent golf course should cost. I think he's stuck in the 1980's.

Sutton Green
Cupar
Hersham
Kinross Montgomerie
Kinross Bruce
South Buckinghamshire
Purley Downs
Hainault (Upper)
Luton Hoo
Blimey, how could I forget the annual boys trip...

Did both courses at the Nottinghamshire, and Sherwood Forest - the latter was brilliant.

We're going to Aphrodite Hills again in July. Did you have any trouble getting on? Would just be me and my son, who won't be playing, assume they'd be ok with him sitting in the buggy?

New courses played 2024

Craigielaw...1st leg of lothian trip in March, enjoyed and would return, great variety of holes, testing green complexes, hit lucky with weather too

Dunbar...mmm, (day2), most expensive green fee of our trip, raining when we started, course looked in great condition though, worst weather I've ever played in, rain then Sleet, wind got up, maybe 3-4 clubs, then hailstone, so not too many memories of the holes, may have to return?

Gullane 3...great day (day3), great fun, similsr in many ways to a lot of holes on No.2, would defenitely play again

Pike Hills...nice course, really enjoyed, recommend

Flamborough...great location, great scenery, but controversially i gotta say, boring, back and forth, up and down, not for me....great welcome and hospitality though

Driffield...great oldie worldy type course, clubhouse, decent layout, no 2 holes the same

Scarborough south cliff...last leg of a 4 day trip, very busy, chocka tbh, so slow, crazy routing where you go over the motorway, and not well signed where to go to the next tee on other side of the road, may return though?

Warkworth...9 holer, played on my birthday in October, everyone enjoyed it, nice track, great greens, very welcoming

Our friend had booked it all , but I wouldn't have thought so , the Pro's seemed very friendly and accomadating. I'm sure you'll be fine with your lad on the buggy .Are you staying in the Hotel?

Missed 1 off

Crook...was in great condition when we played it, nice true greens, some nice holes, but then quite a few blind shots/holes, lots of changes in elevation
Not the greatest, but friendly place, very cheap green fee

We've booked one of the on site villas, we did the hotel when it was just the two of us but villa this time so the kids don't annoy anyone.

I'll pop in the shop when we arrive then, nice one.

Just the 4 for me. A lot of “yes I’ll go back” from new courses in 2023 it appears having had a look through.

Princes (all 3 9s)
Camberley Heath
Tandridge
Littlehampton

But already have 5 new courses lined up for 2025, with a couple of holidays where it looks like I might be able to tick off more golf abroad in the pipeline as well.
Can now add Pedham Place to this list!

New ones for me this year were:
  • Ormonde Fields
  • Rushcliffe
  • Mapperley
  • Elsham
  • Bedale
  • Richmond
  • Catterick
  • Chevin
Enjoyed them all to be honest, but Bedale was probably my favourite.

Can people stop saying they like Cleeve Hill. This has been a hidden gem for years and you can still get on for £40.

If the secret really gets out it be £100 plus before you know it. A bit like in the value thread where I noted that we played Pennard for £20 (no special discounts) in 2016, its £110 now.
Maybe CH should be talked of as a HIDDEN GEM…that way many folks will positively avoid it.😘
