I will obviously have to play Cleve Hill this year. My Mother was from that neck of the woods, but it's a fair drive from Bradford. I could do with a recommendation of a few other courses to make it a bit of a Cotswold Tour.
I’d add Broadway and Stinchcombe to that list, a bit quirky but really enjoyable.Plenty nearby. Just for starters, Burford, Tadmarton Heath, Painswick (if you want very quirky) Cotswold Hills, Lilleybook.
I'm sure a few on here would tag along
For me, North Berwick is the most overrated course around.Trip to east lothian.
Gullane 1 - Great course, my favourite we played. Challenging but scoreable, good views, good condition.
Gullane 2 - Weather horrific, possibly the worst i've ever played in - cold, wet and windy. A couple of brutish holes.
North Berwick - There's no doubting this is a good course, but its rated that highly I felt a bit underwhelmed. In my opinion its on a level with Cruden Bay rather than the true greats.
Kilspindie - Nice 'filler' course. Short so loads of birdie / eagle opportunities, but not easy.

Gullane 2 is every bit as good as 1.
Kilspindie is a wonderful course, such a pleasure to play.
Does 1 justify the big cost difference from the other two?
Absolutely not. I’d say play 2 and 3 for half the cost of 1.Does 1 justify the big cost difference from the other two?

It is a really good course, just very expensive. But that’s golf in many parts of the country these days. We've already done 2 and 3 on our other 2 trips, thought we complete the set. Won't bother now then.
Did not have Google Earth available when I started......I mark all the courses I play on using Google Earth. There are 121 on the list, though not completely sure when I played them all for the first time. The only ones I definitely know I played for the first time this year were:
Southwell: 9 holes are in the middle of a race track
Thorne: Annual Membership is about £40, then green fees for each round
So, neither course is one I'd recommend as ones you must play. But, they were OK for knocking a ball around for 4 hours and having a it of fun.
Also played:
Richmond
Catterick
Bedale
These were all played during the Dales Golf Festival. I quite enjoyed these courses.
I've not played in too many countries. I've been to:Did not have Google Earth available when I started......
have been lucky enough to play over 200 courses in the UK Ireland France and Spain,
plus a lot more here in OZ.
