As many of you know I am now retired from this head wrecking game.
But all of my friends and family are still keen as mustard.

My brother and friends went to play Bearwood Lakes a few months ago and were blown away by it.
They seemed to think it was all geared up to become one of the best inland courses in the country.

I saw there photos and it did look fantastic

Has anyone played it and what did you think?

I got to know a member of Bearwood Lakes through my participation in the Golf Magic forum, and thanks to him have played the course on numerous occasions.
It's everything they say it is, believe me.
;)

Piccie above is the par 5 11th I do believe.
Bugger of a hole where I don't get a shot

I am a member at Bearwood Lakes, and I agree it is a terrific course.

That picture is from the black tees at the 11th. They make the hole a bit of a dogleg right to left. The white tees are to the right of that position and make it play pretty straight. The bunkers you can see are about 80 yards short of the green, so the question after the drive is whether you can get past them, or need to play up short.

There is a nice run of holes from there, with the 12th a strong downhill par 3 of about 190, then the 13th a tricky par 4 with the tee shot over the lake, and more lake waiting for a long approach, then the feature par 3 14th about 155 yards across the edge of the lake.

Despite the 14th being the "feature" hole, my own personal favourite is the 12th. A fantastic par 3. Closely followed by the 10th, a great par 4. I don't think I could ever get bored with Bearwood Lakes, even the Missus said that if we lived closer she would go without just to allow me to become a member.
Certainly one of my favourite tracks

If that picture is typical of the rest of the course, it has to be put on my 'to play' list. I like playing tree lined courses - particularly if the trees are the helpful type that guide the ball towards the centre of the fairway !

Wasn't the club closed to non members at one stage?
It was just members and guests only?

Yes.

There is a day member scheme. There are a limited number of slots and you get well looked after for the day member fee. I don't remember how much it is, but it is probably on the club website.

Played there with MikeH and David Howell in the Srixon/Cleveland shootout - that we won!!
Played the 10th - 14th holes. Superb. Just superb.
I carved my tee shot in the picture into the trees right. But we still birdied the hole between us!

Ask MikeH about the 14th - his Tee shot and my chip!!

Love the place and I want to go and play the whole course this year sometime.

I've had the pleasure of playing Bearwood Lakes and it really is top drawer. Even as a day member you're treated superbly and the facilities and condition are immaculate. If I could afford it I'd play there quite happily for the rest of my life

Top course, well worth the expense....strange how a course that is 15 years old is classed as 'new'....

I don't think it has the potential to become one of the UK's top inland courses......it already is.

I was lucky to be invited to a big charity day there last May. It was a superb day, the weather was scorching.
I had never putted on greens as fast, and my host told me that they are usually even quicker on club championship day.
We got knocked out of 4th spot on count back. God knows how many points I personally left out there that day.
First prize was a shiney new set of Srixon clubs for each player. I think fourth prize was a superb stand bag each.
A great day and if the dates don't clash I'll be lucky enough to be invited back again this year
;)
