New Callaway & Tm Drivers

Imagine on the course if it starts raining at the start then stops half way through and they blows up a gale lol players changing shafts & heads on the course, the people behind will be inserting them up the slow players ****'s.

i don't think this will be allowed mate, its like the movable weights in clubs at the moment, one they have been set at the start of the round you are not allowed to change them

a thought - what is the more expensive part, heads or handles?

If it's the heads then there is a logic to this, for the manufacturer and distributor. It saves them the cost of building the clubs in, say, three specs and then having a lot on the shelf, which would be sold off cheaply further down the line.

End result initial cost to us is higher, with fewer 'surplus stock' models available on-cost to us is higher.

Whilst I cannot see the benefit of buying these kits, could it be a sign of what to expect in the future. Clubs could be custom fit in the shop by simply screwing in the right shaft. No more waiting for the correct spec to be made or arrive just a case of finding the right head and the right shaft and putting the 2 together.

GB72, it is not in the future it already happens, the whole of Callaways 2008 custom fit process is based on this. it is called the opti-fit system and you can just put different shafts into different heads by turning and pushing until some sort of click is herd. Makes life much easier for a fitter.

and presumably the locking mechanism is accurately aligned for each shaft?

Anything that makes it easier for the fitter is a good thing. To be able to walk in, be fitted and walk out with your new club is a top invention.
