I wanted to get rid of my old boiler but I was told it would cost half of everything that I had and the new one would eventually end up like the old one and it would be more expensive to keep.

I know I am going to be in the minority here however I am presently sitting here with British Gas installing a new boiler as I type.
It's not an easy install as the boiler needed to be relocated due to being outside of building regs in its present position. I got BG in alongside 3 other local companies (one of which I have used a lot in the past) and BG actually were very competitive against the other 3....they were the 3rd cheapest (or 2nd most expensive!). Once I had their quote I rang their central customer services line and got another £400.00 knocked off if I paid in full at the end of the job. I also get 12 months of HomeCare included which would work out at £25.00 per month if I paid myself.
Obviously I appreciate that people have different experiences however in my case I was all for giving the local guys the work but in the end they BG gave me the best quote etc.

Got a quote today from the 2 guys who did my bathroom, bigger boiler than than quoted from BG ,£1800 all in guess who's getting that job

That's a neat price, I chose http://stlheating.co.uk just as I'd used them at my old gaff before I moved. It's luck I didn't pick BG though as I had a quote which was "the best" then I heard of stl so I thought, well another quote won't hurt. Suffice to say, they got the job (not BG!) and have not had any hassle since!
