new driver 1.jpg

New today, to celebrate getting a new job I treated myself to a fitting. After testing a range this came out on top as the lowest spinning and longest hitting.

Out on the course it performed well, only one wide and that was a bad swing not the club. My first drive was 250 down the middle, just a tad low on the face.

I am hitting up on it a little too much but the tall face is forgiving in the way I need it unlike other drivers I tried.

So very happy for many reasons today, first the job, then the driver and finally committing to being a full 7 day member of my golf club.

Nice one! Cleveland drivers are very underrated IMO, I had a Cleveland hi bore a few years back, lovely club.

congrats on the new job Tom, I hope things are good in Cambridge

I love the look of those new Cleveland woods, I'm thinking about the 3 wood.

Hope it works for you, at least it doesn't have a ladies shaft :D

I could be tempted to take a look at one of these. The Miyazaki shafts Cleveland are using at the moment feel really good.
Im using a TL310 at the moment and its possibly the longest Straightest driver I've used.

Things are great here, loving it! I am also tempted by the whole range. Next up are Cleveland 588 wedges to replace my ageing Mizuno ones, going to take advantage of the £25 trade in offer, replace both my wedges with new for just over £100!

As for the 3 wood it will take a lot to get me to drop my cobra S3, its a cracking club. I was just saddend the AMP Cell driver gave me too much spin as I liked the looks.

Looks like one day soon I am going all Cleveland/Srixon bar the putter and the irons (the latter may not even be safe)!

Congrats on the job mate, hope things are going well and the h/c now starts to drop especially with being able to play more regularly mate.

Hope to see you at a meet for a game soon mate.

Congratulations on all accounts, cool looking driver!

It's a bit crazy as I got a new job yesterday, ordered a new iron and will be joining back at AVGC at the beginning of next month... Yay!!

Do it; you won't regret it!

Oh, by the way see my sig!!

I'm hoping you have to put loads of hours in at the new job as you are a dead cert for our challenge with hitting like that unless your short game starts to crumble. now that would be a shame. seriously though do you need a new dog to beat an old timer like me ?

Had a bad 9 holes yesterday, lost a ball and only shot 42 gross :(

Shall see today but if it doesnt misbehave badly it will save me 2-3 shots a round where previously I had to lay up on par 4s.

It looks so good and it is exactly the face shape I need, I miss the sweetspot high and low rather than left and right so i need a narrow tall face like this one.

I love the possible contradiction with your three rules to break 90. I can't wait to here about you murdering the ball 300 yards out of bounds, or getting to 180 yards out and going for it.

PS I think new shiny's are cheating, after all noone said I was allowed to buy a new chipping stroke - hope it's a good investment ! If it's close (although unlikely) we might need to meet somewhere between us and have a playoff - I suggest Kettering..... I was a member there for over 20 years:whistle:
