Negative self talk

As I understand it, it's not that the brain changes "DON'T go in the lake" to "DO go in the lake", but the mind can't turn the word "Don't" into something real that it can relate to, like it can with a lake.

Saying "Don't go in the lake" just puts the image of the lake in your mind and it does it's best to produce the image you've given it, regardless of whether or not that is your intention.

For anyone who lips out a lot of right or left edge putts, try thinking of the ball going in the hole on the path you've imagined rather than just standing there thinking right/left edge. You're giving your mind an image (edge of the hole) and it does it's best to produce it for you.

Zen Golf by Dr. Joseph Parent

There's a LOT of good stuff in there. There is also a lot of stuff (breathing and mind exercises) that I'm too lazy to put into practice but might be good if you're that way inclined.

I got the Audiobook from iTunes so I could listen in the car instead of having to find time to read.
