Nearly caused a calamity on Captain's day

Got a late call from someone to join them on the day and rolled up eager as ever.

First tee and it was handshakes all round - Captain sending us off and wishing us well.

Anyway he stood to the left approx 50 yards away and I pulled an amazing shank that nearly took his head off - head height and missed him by about a foot max!!!

Very embarrassing but just imagine if it had actually hit him - would probably be drummed out of the club - lol.

I walked up - apologised in front of about the next 20 people waiting to tee off then turned and hit a scorcher - thank god.

Took a few holes to regain my composure during which I was 2 points after 4 holes and ended up with a 30 pointer.

He laughed about it at the dinner following but I bet he was worried - I certainly was.

I know anyone that has played with me will not believe this, but i hit a wayward drive once. Off our 16 tee straight down the middle of the fourth fairway. It had both the club captain and club champion diving for cover. I think they appreciated it when I told them I was just opening up the green for my approach.

No only one, but i would advise against driving up the 16th when playing the 4th. There is a internal OB when playing that way, so 3 off the tee.

Some old crusty nearly brained me this morning, pulled tee shot on our 5th as I just started up the 6th, passed about 3 foot in front of me at eye level.

He apologised and claimed he tried to shout but choked on his sweet!
