N/R.........No Returns

Sorry but that's a poor comment. PSI is there to help those that give up their time free of charge to do a difficult job a helping hand. We always have a number of people who fail to sign in PSI. It's not hard. We have two terminals. It takes a couple of minutes to put scores into it. Why make someone's life much harder because you can't be bothered

Spot on Homer

Correct. One or two minutes to enter your score is not exactly a hardship.

Another quick question, how do NR's affect the CCS. If you do not have the higher scores getting entered then does it mean that CCS could be a shot lower than it would be meaning people are getting less of a cut than they would.

I believe NR's are just treated as scores over the buffer ? But I'm sure someone will confirm soon.

OK sometime people have a dam good reason to leave mid round / dump their card, but if it is a case that N/R's affect CCS then should there be a 0.2 increase in the event of a N/R?

Wouldn't that encourage people that want handicap increases just to N/R

As I have always been told you can still get cut despite an NR - NR the one hole then continue to fill in the card and the Stableford points may get you get

So does that mean the cards aren't checked?

I'm not saying it doesn't make the job (slightly) easier. But the responsibility for ensuring Cards are correct is still 'The Committee's'. And N/Rs are easy to identify - via the system - when all the returned cards have been entered!

It's not just NR's though

It's people who put their valid card in the box but don't put their scores on the PC or people that enter the comp then don't bother putting anything on the PC or even a card in the box - it's lazy attitude from certain people and adds on unwanted and unneeded time to something that already takes a bit of time.

It's also the players responsibility to enter their scores on the PSI and yo correctly enter a scorecard - fail to do either it creates more work for other people

How much actual more work though!

I've used/experienced both methods and there's actually very little real difference between the time it takes to enter a card from scratch and to check it from PSI - about 5-10 secs a card! In fact, the quickest way to check PSI scores, though more than half the time, is with 2 people, so it actually 'costs' more time.

The recognition that some folk have been 'lazy' and not entered their score is just a niggle.

Card not in the box when the competition is closed is a N/R!

An extra time is time not needed when people volunteer their help - the least people can do is take the extra minute or so to fill their own card instead of expecting others to do it

Every Monday it's the same - pick up the hundred or so cards, going through the sheets and finding people haven't bothered to enter their cards , then other people having to enter it for them and then run off more copies - sorry but your initial comment of it being "rubbish" is incorrect and that's from people that are doing this on a weekly basis.

It's not a "niggle" when it's a weekly basis and we will start to sanction people to stop them being lazy.

As I stated, I too did it on a weekly/fortnightly basis - by both methods.

The difference was minimal - minutes with 70-90 competitors - at least for someone with keyboard skills and a little knowledge of the system. The entry (and checking) of those scores not entered by the players took seconds longer per card as it did to check those that were entered!

You could well not be taking advantage of the full facilities of the system - Entry List Matching and a bit of thought about the cards can do a lot of the donkey work you mention for you!
