went to the course yesterday and played well but shocking, lol. Used my iphone as my scorecard and it highlights how bad my putting really is, i was hitting the ball well with the irons, on a few i had wayward driver shots, but made up for it most of the time on the 2nd shot. Got a scorecard here http://golfshot.com/Rounds/Detail/147-4900740-4900900

I really need to start getting my V-easy out pretty sharpish ready for my next game.

think i worked it out at around 37 points off my28 handicap which wasnt too bad. But as it was a friendly dont really matter, lol

One good thing though was i drove the 18th hole on my 2nd attempt, 1st one went straight into the bush on the left. LOL

That does look like your putting is costing you. But..

My putts average 1.98 per hole and I think I could get that down by being more accurate with irons and chips onto the green. Luckily for me I rarely make a 3 putt, bit I'd be in a much worse position if I did due to my dodgy approach play!

That's an interesting scorecard.

I know you can't always tell the whole story from stats but yours screams 'short game'.

You've hit more more fairways than I dare dream of, and around the same number of greens. Those who've played with me will attest my short game isn't anything to write home about.

It's not only the putts, but no up and downs from around the green so the chipping doesn't sound great either.

With a little bit of practice and/or more playing time it's not that hard to have an average short game. I can't see you being 28 standard for long.

Is it long putts/chips not getting close enough, or missing short ones (under 4')?

thats my last round on my home course, similar score but way better putting, my approaches and short game sucked.

practice putting 1st, get a bit of consistency and your score will drop by about 8 shots, also learn chip shots around the green to get closer for shorter putts. Its ok having G.I.R but if its just on the green with a 40ft putt I would rather be short and pitch closer.

Plenty of good points from your round, like me, plenty to improve on :)

good luck and enjoy

Would you really rather be playing your 3rd chipping from 15yds than putting from 13yds?
