Found this forum yesterday and have enjoyed reading some old posts, especially the one where everyone was saying how they got gear into the bag without the better half finding out.

I felt its now time to take the plunge with my first post.

I have only ever been a recreational golfer only started playing when in my mid 20s. Never lifted a club before that. I was too busy playing football, soccer and Gaelic. I am currently on a waiting list for a club and hope to get in this summer.

I was given a set of old irons from a punter in a pub I used to work in but replaced them when I got married as a present to myself. Use a Wilson P5 driver, slazenger 5 and 7 wood and Mizuno MX15s irons and a taylor made rosa putter. Any balls and an old Irish 5pence peice for my ball marker!

I have been playing to about 16-26 (sometimes more)over par for a year or so depending on conditions etc. Havent played much this year due to waiting to join new club in June so didnt get my usual council season ticket.

I am looking forward to getting my handicap and playing some medals.

I bought David Leadbetters dvd a couple of weeks ago and find it great. It lets me see what im doing and what im supposed to do. I am struggling of the tee and some irons with a slice so hope to get that sorted....Will post my handicap when I get it. I will be happy with something around 20-24

To the future and my single figure handicap........

Welcome fabio, great introduction!

You are certainly in the right place to start reducing your handicap when you get it.

Welcome Fabio…….keep the 5 pee marker and throw the rest out.

Only kidding. The putter sounds the dogs and the irons are probably better that most people think. I’ve tried MX 15s, there not bad at all and a friend of mine will not change them for the world, he’s a 10 HC player by the way. If the irons are a two or three years old then get new grips on them, it makes a difference as the grips can get a bit hard over time especially if they’ve been lying about for some time.
