Whatever I try, I just cant get a decent hit out of it, decided to give it one last go today, felt good in my swing, tee'd up, swung, hit, it flew for about 30 yards 5 foot in the air then dropped like a brick!! Im sticking to my 3 wood from now on.
Anyone else not use their driver?

My driver comes out on two holes at the moment at my home club. With the ball running again three wood or hybrid are sufficient. It is not all down to course management though, as I can only hit it on the the holes with the widest fairways.:(

Im in the no driver camp mate...

I have even fell out with my 3wood. I have been taking a 5 iron off the tee - might lose a few yrds on every 5th tee shot but gain 100's on every other!

Need to sort it out in the long run though.

I'll take it off your hands - and away from tempttion - for a fiver :D

my driver has been a passenger last couple rounds purely just carried around not even looked at it as it was misbehaving massively. Had a lesson weekend using my irons changed grip posture and stance. Down range this evening i thought i would get it out see how it perfromed (we have a practice range where you take your own balls so its always a true reflection) All i can say is wow!! the big dog has been given a new lease of life and will make an appearance at the weekend longer than before and straighter haha. Although ive been creaming 3wood recently after almost falling out with that so will try it for a few holes but i was out hitting 3wod tonight by a good 20yrds+ which i was happy with (im not a big hitter either)

I got shot of mine also. It was just killing my game. Same issues crept in with the 3 wood so gone back to basics and booked 6 lessons starting this eve. Already feel the best thing I could have done. Fingers crossed I'll be back in the Market for a driver in the not to distant.

Not using my driver at the moment but planning a lesson or two to sort it out. Getting between 170-200 (depending on the strike)consistently from my 3 wood so that will do for now...

A good drive is one of the games great pleasures IMO so it would take a lot for me to give it up permanently/stop trying to learn!

Who was your lesson with mate?

I'm in love with my driver at the moment, could be the lessons but I'm hitting it straighter than I have for a long time. Mind you on my last round with my dad I sliced high wide and handsom, ball landed in the road and bounced in to the park opposite, just pleased it was an early start and there was not traffic, there after on that round the driver stayed in the bag and I used the 3 metal off the tee.

Stopped using my driver a couple of weeks ago, slice was getting worse. On friday night I gave it another try but gave up after 2 holes and reverted to the 3 wood. Shot 55 going out and 40 coming in, breaking 100 for the first time.

My driver is very close to being binned too, played 16 holes tonight, used it 2 or 3 times...very very badly. Started off with my 3 wood and if i'm being honest I think i hit it just as far and defo much straighter...no brainer for me :( Probably could do with a lesson or 6

Dropped my driver last week, played great 1st 2 times but Sunday I was pants and missed the extra yards, I was hitting everything crap but still thought my driver would have saved me (it would have been even worse)

26 points on Sunday had me absolutely gutted. Went out tonight and 42 points with 2 blobs!!! It was only a friendly knock but tee shots were nigh on always on the fairway or 1st cut!

Once I get the hang of this 3 wood I reckon I wont be far off my driver distances anyway.

Good bit of kit innit?

So, you can't hit the driver?
There's only one thing for it......throw it in the bin or ebay it. Sorry, that's two things
Whichever way you go, you know you'll be buying another in a few weeks which may work for a day or two and then guess what......? Semmingly overnight, the golfing demons visit your home and change the metabolic configuration of your driver making it impossible to hit again. So you sell it, wait a few weeks and try again.

Or, you could pay for one or two lessons and learn how to hit the one you've got.
I'm pleased to see that at least some of you have already decided on this course of action.
Good luck to all of you and I hope you master the old dog. It's great fun launching one high down the middle...apparently

I had this problem. Had a lesson on weight transfer and started teeing it up a bit more and voila it works again...

@op what's driver do you have? What shaft, loft and what's your handicap?

I struggled but persevered with a Titleist 907D2 8.5* pro launch stiff for 5 years (as it must be me not the club), sometimes changing to a lighter, less stiff, more loft driver can reap big rewards.

Its a Makser. Not sure of what shaft it is quite bendy though, and 11*, not got an official handicap at the moment, If I did it would be 28 though. I got a day off today so might go to the range with it and get a lesson.

Lesson may / will help but the right driver can make a huge difference

1. get a higher loft driver 11.5 or higher

2. get a driver with the right shaft for your swing speed ( crucial )

3. get a forgiving driver, can recommend the old Ping G2 driver very easy to hit but not the longest driver but still decent

Or as many have done use a 3 wood and put an extra wedge in the bag
