Multiple clubs on 1 course

At Carnoustie, you pay for a season ticket from the Links Management Committee and choose which club, if any, to join. The clubs all have different membership fees, which are additional to the season ticket. Season ticket prices vary depending on whether you have a 5 or 7 day ticket and whether you have the right to play 1,2 or all 3 courses. I have been a 7 day season ticket holder for 8 years and only just reached the top of the waiting list for a 2 course ticket. There are currently more than 300 people in front of me on the waiting list for the 3 course ticket which includes the championship course, so I'm not holding my breath, though I can play it occasionally for a greatly reduced green fee. 3 clubs have their own clubhouses, I believe the others use a local Hotel. This obviously impacts the membership fee. There is no obligation to join any club in order to be a season ticket holder, even for the championship course (3 course) ticket.

Dunbar has a couple of clubs going on as also Royal Mussleburgh, it has three. In saying that, the Royal dates back to 1774, so no wonder, all these years to fall out.
