I don't really see the issue. Anecdotally a lot of people are using courses already for walks etc.

The issue is the advice not to drive anywhere to exercise or walk your dog. In reality this means a high concentration of people out during the day, who would normally be at work, exercising on pavements and parks in and around residential areas. This will be especially bad in cities with a lot of flats / high rises and not much in the way of garden space.

I don't live in London, but I know a lot of people who do and in many situations they are 3 or 4 adults to a small 2 or 3 bed flat with no balcony or garden. A lot of HMO's don't even have a living room with say 4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a kitchen.

That's obviously a fairly unpleasant situation to be in and I'm sure for those people, it was never intended to be somewhere they would stay in probably any days out of 7 but was probably selected on location as they knew 5 days they'd be at work and out at weekends, or back visiting family.

It may not be ideal but nobody forced you to buy a flat in a city with no outdoor space, and if your there not out of choice just be grateful you have a roof over your head because in some countries youd be living in a tin shack

Whilst I'd agree with the first part of the post, there I people I know in the position in the bolded section because it is all they can afford, given the ridiculous price of property down here.

Well move to the second part, wages are higher in London than elsewhere. If living in a city in a flat is not what you want then its probably best to have looked for a job elsewhere. Anyway it's not stopping folk from exercising at the nearest safe place which is unlikely to be a golf course

Ok, accept that room for damage, innocently or otherwise, but like I said, people who live near a golf course will use it anyway.

And the issue for those people in inner city flats is not that 'it's not ideal' its that it will weaken their resolve and mean far more openly breaching the stay at home orders. I have no excuse, I have a garden and public spaces are not crowded. But I imagine that in many streets around flats and high rises (not just in London) the pavements are congested to the point that even people just going for shopping, never mind exercising, would find it impossible to maintain 2m distance. and now they are closing the parks in some places rather than police them.

If you encouraged / allowed those who could, to drive a few miles to a golf course or other space to take their dog or get some exercise, it would help things.

They could drive a few miles to anywhere else other than a golf course, most city dwellers probably dont own a car anyway as it won't be necessary. If golf courses were allowed open then theres no excuse not to have outdoor public spaces open. I imagine you'd be ok with folk driving from E.K or shawlands/govanhill to stroll east rens fairways. I think most of your members would be having fits

It is sad unfortunately as they are such an asset to the area but just dont receive the love they should these days. Situation has gotten very bad since this lockdown to the extent I think they will have a real problem when its relaxed as many many dog walkers think they have right of way over the courses which isnt good for the courses or the area IMO.

No I dont think they should though personally if I were to take a job in a city and all I could afford to buy was a flat then one of my primary concerns would be the effect it would have on my quality of life and that would be a huge thing for me. That's a sacrifice lots of these folks have made consciously. As I've said public courses up here have seen kids and dogs running through bunkers, building sand castles, moving large quantities of sand out the bunkers onto surrounding areas, dogs sh**ting everywhere. People walking across greens, folk playing football on one of them. Bikes you name it, all of this is damaging courses, nobody is there to police it and someone has to foot the bill for correcting it all. I dont think that should be members of golf clubs personally
