I love golf and have been hitting the ball pretty well recently butthe thought “what's the point in this” has been creaping back into my head just lately. Its weird cos I want to be there on course but get these thoughts through the round.I seem to be content with my game but I'm starting to think subconsciously that the golf demons are expecting more. There seems to be a mental battle going on that is seeing me start to lose some interest again.Your thoughts guys.

What's the point in a lot of things? I spent a lot of time over 30 years trying to perfect my skils as a sailor and winnnig trophies for it but ultimately the only point is the satisfaction gained from learning a skill and applying it and proving to ourself that you can rise to that chalenge regardless of the disappointments and frutrations along the way. Maybe it's just life in a microcosm.

That's what I tell myself when I duff it into the cabbage anyway.

Have had my mojo renewed since starting the One Plane journey in December. Happy to practice knowing I'm hitting it reasonably more often, can play better and keep it together on the course when it isn't going so well. Even a bad session at the range just fires me up to try harder. Maybe I'm just an addict

Maybe try playing a different course, where in Suffolk do you play ?
I play at The Suffolk near Bury,I've been playing there since 1994 and have some great memories there but have got it in my head this is where I want to play well.I hear what your saying though Wolfman a change is as good as a rest....maybe that's it trying too hard on the same can become somewhat tedious.

Been there as well!!

Lots of work pressure, stress of moving house, caught a bug and have felt unwell for weeks, it all impacted on my golf and I was close to giving up as I was playing so badly. Stopped for a couple of weeks but played on Monday in the Volvo pairs (couldn't let my partner down) was expecting bad things but played better than I have done in the last year, won our match 6&4, dropped 2 shots by the time we shook hands.

Maybe I will keep playing after all it's only a game.

Hope it works out for you in your own way.

Best

Cheers for that,I guess for most of us we have to really apply ourselves to get anywhere with this great game and other stressfull distractions just don't help when others find the game comes to them pretty easily no matter what.I worked with a chap in he's late 20's who took the game up 2 years prior and was playing off a 4! How does this happen after all the practise I have put in for the last 20 years and play off 14!!

:lol:i have been there my friend,i have had renal failure for 4 years and got down in the dumps even the good days on the course did little to cheer me up,changed clubs and started to enjoy playing again new surroundings and friends did wonders for me then 5 weeks ago had a heart attack so no golf ( or anything else !!) for 3 months or so,is it the end of the world not by a long stretch, don't let things get you down have a break away from the game for a few weeks this could well give you the reason to think why you play the game and boost your enthusiasm, keep smiling.
