Most improved track!

Following on from the best new course thread, what track did you re-visit this year and think WOW, this has really improved or matured?

For me that honour goes to Dundonald Links. Dundonald has always been a good layout however this year it had the WOW factor about it, the greens have really improved, the place has matured and in general it was truly a joy to play golf on.

The Hirsel,I hadn't really played it for about 5 years til this year and found it way better than I remembered,they certainly had the best greens I have putted on this year bar none.

There were two that really caught my eye. I returned to a cracking course near Stoke-on-Trent called Trentham. It has always had a good pedigree and is well regarded, but until this year I haven't really got it.

The other was the 2010 course at Celtic Manor, however it was in much better condition for obvious reasons and I played much better too, so my opinion is probably slightly clouded…!

I've not played the course this year, but everyone i've spoken with has said how much the club and course have improved and the greens in particular are very highly praised.

Parkstone. Hadn't played it since i was a kid when i thought it a bit scruffy, but now it is in fantastic nick.

Just had one of those spit the cuppa oot onto the P.C. moments Smiffy! I can think of a few that need to invest in a good exit sign!!

Spot on there mate last year the course was good but this year i saw a marked improvement,but for me Muckhart just shades it after being there 2 years ago the course was good, but the last time i was ther the course was superb,i think they made an investment in the greenkeepers and it paid of they were the best greens i putted on that season.

So you don't fancy a game down here again. Actually in its defence the greens this year were spot on and pretty good all summer. I wish the trees defining some of the holes would hurry and grow to give it some real character but all in all it is getting there. it still rates above Lydd I take it.

For me Bearwood just gets better and better and Sand Martins did some work on their greens and bunkers which has improved it. For me though I think Tylney Park near Basingstoke gets the vote. It played pretty tricky but was a fair test of golf. They seemed to have got their greens quick and true which is all you ever want and the whole place just seemed fresher and tidier

Have to agree, silky smooth and fast greens well maintained.

I played Costessey Park for the first time since I was a member there as a Junior. When I was a kid the tees sloped about 12" from one side to the other, the fairways were like rough, and the greens had some ridiculous slopes that left you with no hope of keeping the ball on the green.
It's like a completely different track now. Some of the greens have been re-designed, and the course is generally in lovely condition tee to green.
I always enjoy it at Costessey as it suits my game, loads of driveable par 4's

The very one.get yourself back next season,you won't recognise it as it has matured beyond recognition.

I played it on my first ever golfing visit to Scotland.
March 1991. Bloody hell it was muddy, cold and wet.
But still appreciated what a nice layout it was.
Stayed in a hotel in Duns, they were offering a week accommodation back then for £129.00 half board! Had my first taste of haggis there.
Played The Old Course, Magdalen Field, Goswick, Dunbar and a couple of others that I can't remember the name of now.
As I say, it was bloody freezing!

Can't remember what the hotel was called now. It was 19 years ago! And yes, it was a fun tour
