Off to a clinic tomorrow given by Monty. It should be interesting and he's usually pretty good in a relaxed atmosphere. Providing noone asks about his alleged adultery or moans about hispicks we should all get out in one piece. It'll be entertaining to see what he has to show us golf wise to.

I went to one years back with Monty, Seve and Thomas Bjorn. All three were great and their demonstration game was very good too.

Wow, what an interesting time at the Monty clinic yesterday. Not only did he go through how he hits different types of shots and his pre-shot routine (standard clinic fare) but he also talked fielded a Q&A session. Some interesting points

Paul Casey. He is the reserve if Westwood is unfit (not Rose) and Westwood won't be picked to play unless he can play 36 per day and the singles. He has until Thursday evening (day before) to make his decision.

Padraig Harrington. The main reason Harrington was selected came down to a discussion with Monty and his vice captains about who they would want to have the chance to hole the winning putt on Sunday. They were unanimous that Harrington would have the mental strength following his major successes and that is why they gave him the nod over Rose in particular

Accommodation. For 12 players plus the captain and VC's it takes 112 rooms to accomodate everyone involved with each player including their own caddies, fitness instructors, coaches etc

Seniors Tour. Monty said he wants to really get back to playing properly on tournext season without any RC distractions. He however does not want to play on the seniors and is getting tired with the demands of travelling and once his European Tour exemption finishes when he gets to 52 (2015 from memory) he's going to call it a day

The US Team. He expects Woods to be picked and thinks Pavin will go for the next four on the list who are all major winners. Monty said he thought it was exceptionally tight in terms of ability on both sides and thinks home advantage will be the deciding factor and predicted a 15-13 win although he thinks it might even get to 14 1/2-13 1/2

He was remarkably candid in his answers and seemed very relaxed. It was really good to see him swing and his thoughts.

Not after he hit a huge hook when trying to demonstrate a draw. Failed his audition. Very interesting stuff though about the RC and especially Westwood needing to be able to convince Monty he can play all 5 rounds to get in

I don't think Westwood would have withdrawn himself from Firestone and the USPGA unless he wanted to play in the RC. I'm sure with the time he's had to rest, he'll be good to go. Casey is a worthy replacement if he's not though.

Thanks for the insight Homer.

I am, however, really disappointed that you look nothing like your avatar :(

Forgot to add that when he has to put the name of the player he wants to pull out if any Ameircan can't compete in the singles, he isn't even going to share it with the VC's and its going in a sealed envelope which he has demanded back unopened if it isn't needed. He doesn't want anyone knowing who ultimately, he didn't think was good enough to win his match. He has said that if he writes a book (that's a done deal then) that it won't even get revealed then so he can look everyone of them in the eye when he is back on tour next year.

He said that the Molinari victory was one of the best he'd seen. He also thought Kaymer would be world number 1 in the next two years and that he and McIlroy would then contest it between them going forward

Imurg can you also let us know how your day went with the 17yr old's ;)

Wonderful as ever.
2 tests - 1 pass, 1 fail. The lovely Laura passed easily.
Tia was wearing next to nothing as usual, Alex(andra) much the same, Nikki - well what can I say.... and as for Rachel - well lets say most of you would!!
