We have a holiday coming up to Croatia (assuming flights all go to plan) and the property has Wi-Fi although I have no idea how reliable it'll be so need to ensure a have a back up as invariably will need to do bits and bobs on the work front.

My question is, is there any difference in speed between using my iPhone that has a mobile hotspot for my laptop or investing in a specific mobile 4/5G wi-fi device?

I have done some reading around the subject and I'm not going to have multiple devices connected so that is not a consideration for me. I have also checked with Vodafone and, in theory, I'll get 4G coverage in the area we're in so I already know my mobile will work over there. Essentially don't want to spend money on something that effectively doubles up on what I already own!!

There shouldn't be if it's just 1 device. I often use my Phone as a hotspot if there's terrible wifi somewhere. We always use it in the car so the lad can watch the iPad via my hotspot on long journeys etc too. If you have strong 4G the speed will be fine

Check roaming charges before you decide whether to use your mobile - could get expensive.

Also, is it a holiday if you are worrying about whether you can do your work? ?

Already checked and roaming is included in the present contract so no issues there.

I run my own business so there's always an element of work, I try and keep it to a minimum but cannot get away entirely.
