Has anybody heard any news about this club?

I was interested in buying the mp53 from a well known website, but noticed they didn't provide the custom fit options , when i asked they said that they didn't have custom options as the mp54 was due out in the autumn.

I've heard of the mp64 but nothing of an mp54?........

Is it possible he had his wired crossed?

MP 64 is due out in September but in my opinion that is not why they could not custom fit them for you. Your best off seeing a proper Mizuno fitter, there are lots all over.

Plenty of info on the mizuno forum. it appears there is no mp 54, JPX 825 pro is the replacement for the 53 by the look of things. Should be plenty of 53's for sale before too long, a really good iron.

As said, no MP54, and a possible reason that you could not get the custom fit options on the MP53 is that Mizuno have no heads left, so can't offer custom fit facilities on them. I know that is a problem at the moment, and thats coming from a store that is a Mizuno DNA centre.

The MP64's are their replacement, with the MPH4's available as part of a mixed set for the long irons. Don't look beyond the (already released) MP59's though if you are after an MP set. If not, then grab a set of the JPX825 Pro's when they are released, as they are the replacement for the JPX800 Pro's.

Hope that makes sense!

Mizuno almost getting as prolific at replacement as TM?

I believe their policy is a 2 year run, but they have so many lines (aim to give every golfer a choice?) that there always seems to be a new Mizzie coming out!

I'm not sure it's a good idea to drop and not replace the 53.
It's been a very popular club.
I looked at the 800Pro and, although it looked good, there was a bit too much offset for my preference. The 63's looked a little too hard to hit consistently so if I'd have been buying then the 53's would have fitted the bill.
Now I haven't seen the 825Pro in the metal yet and the offset may not be as much as the 800Pro, but the 64's look to be in the same bracket as the 63's - ie a bit too much for me.
The 59's may be the gap-filler but the looks may not appeal to all so a 54 would be the obvious answer.

I dint think TM replace their irons too much, they get their reputatation from the Driver changes etc

But at least everything gets a 2 year run. YOu buy a Mizzy product as soon as it comes out and you know there won't be an upgrade for 2 years.

Thanks for the reply guys, and confirming there is no mp54 on the horizon

Agree with imurg's post, i don't think mizuno should be dropping the mp53's, a really good club, one id happily pay full price for now even though its a 2010 model.

I think the mp64 would be too much for me in the longer irons, and the jpx pro 825, would feel too springy, not soft enough, despite the forging, apparently the face is thinner.

I know my specs for mizuno mp range, was fitted for my mp60's and had a fitting a few months back where i didn't buy anything.

2 degrees upright, midsize grips, dynamic gold s300, and +1 inch

Will have to keep an eye out on the second hand market, its plus 1 inch i'm really looking for, i'd rather have a propper cut down shaft than extended.

The 825 Pro will be a little more like the 53, a thinner looking top line and the offset is less on the short irons moving up to more in the long irons.

My understanding is that the H4 is a long iron replacement for Europe but the US will get full sets of them. I have yet to see proper detail on that as the H4 is hollow and that will be odd on short irons and am not sure what standard of golfer it would be aimed at.

Mizuno were questioned quite a lot about the MP 53 and JPX 800 Pro being so similar but I think there is no similarity at all. The 53 is not forgiving and very feeling and the JPX 800 Pro is very forgiving and not very feeling (for a forged club) so I too think it was strange to leave it out.
