It’s good news on one hand to help improve the profile of the LET and enhance the Ladies game but it’s shame it’s being scheduled the week before the US Open so it’s going to be missed by many of the top European players

Main issue with this is prize money and getting 'top' players to turn up on the mens side given they have so many events with big purses that they could play almost any week they wanted.

There was an event early in this season in Australia - Victorian Open - that was a Mens event and an LPGA event.

They had two competitions teeing off one mens group, one womans group and so on. Equal prize money. But obviously was pretty generous for the Woman, but a pretty small event for the men - financial wise.

Ultimately the fields were very modest from both tours, but you feel that the top Woman should have done more to support it as it would have made a decent difference to the woman's prize funds to have an event like this being successful. Especially if it was clear that the Woman's event was the 'big draw' for spectators and broadcasters.

I'm not sure you could say we are even moving towards a position where the male and female prize money will be equal, or close enough that you could run these events and get similar status / ranking of players on each side turning up.

Presumably as with the Irish Open and Rory, Stenson will try to call some favours to improve the field even with the US Open so close. I like it, definitely feels room for a bit more variation like this in tournaments.

There will be a couple of slightly lesser names that maybe won't qualify for the US Open that might go of there's RC points on offer.
