Midsize +4 grips - who are they for?

I need most of my iron grips replaced and wanted to try a midsize grip. I hear good things! I’ll maybe get one club done and trial it out, as I’ve only ever played standard grips. Are there any rules of thumb on who should use a standard midsize and who should use a +4 midsize?

For reference, I’m a typical golfer and more likely to fade to…ahem…power fade the ball. I rarely hook it. I wear a M/L glove.

Nope....midsize +4 are just bigger grips with still less taper (+4 means less taper). I used them for quite a while until I went bigger......

I use the +4 midsize golf pride tour velvet 360 grips.

I wear a small sized glove. Wrist crease to tip of middle finger is 7.5". Middle finger length is 3.25".

Only tried the grip by accident when an ebay purchase turned up with one on it...within a month I'd changed all my grips.

Nope to what?

Midsize plus 4 do have a taper. They’re the same as a normal grip but fatter. Plus 4 not so.
+4 means there is less taper at the bottom of the grip. Doesn't matter whether it's a standard grip or midsize. +4 means a simulation of more tape at the bottom of the grip. Yes....there is taper.....just not as much as a grip without the +4 moniker.

That’s what I said

Huh? Maybe I read your post wrong....but when you write

What does "the same as a normal grip but fatter...Plus 4 not so" mean? Same as a standard +4 grip but bigger?....I agree. Plus 4 not so......??

But to answer the other part of the original message......I like larger grips. I have small hands but use oversize/jumbo grips. I am not a handsy player.....larger grips stop a little of the hand movement (in my opinion). I find the larger grips more comfortable......others just don't like them and stick with smaller grips. no right answer.

I switched to Midsize Plus 4 for anything but wedges after seeing Poulter talking about how he puts extra layers for the bottom hand. His logic was that hands are the same size why would the lower part of the grip be slimmer.

I use plus 4 grips and just in case you didn't know, they're different from plus 4 midsize.

The plus 4 basically simulates an extra 4 layers of tape on the right hand portion of the grip.

A midsize is going to have a thicker left hand section but still have the taper.

Midsize were recommended and I found then too much, but plus 4's are a godsend.
You’ve just added a new layer of complexity I didn’t know existed 😂

It was the tour velvet midsize +4 I was looking at. Seem a decent price compared to the mcc ones.

Maybe the whole taper thing doesn’t matter too much then.

So my explanation wasn't as succinct as it should have been.

I shall delete and decline to assist in future if I am going to be pulled over grammar basically.

Not sure, but I think the Tour Velvet are a +4, but I think the MCC are the same but with cord in the upper grip.

Why would you? I was asking for clarification on what you meant by "plus 4 not so". It didn't make sense to me. It still doesn't, but I wouldn't get upset over it.

Just to be clear, Midsize and Midsize +4 are slightly different i.e. the Plus 4 version has LESS taper for the bottom hand than the regular Midsize grip in exactly the same way as a standard size +4 grip has less taper in the bottom hand than a standard size grip without the +4 designation.
