Mid Season Review

Started well enough , couple of cuts , won a cat prize in the club ,, got to scratch in society , won GM qualifier in Ballyliffin , complete surprise. going backwards lately tho . string of .1's sees me back at 10.. disapointed but hey im playing alot of golf so im at the handicap i deserve , whether i like it or not .. currently leading golfer of the year in the club.. it resumes this weekend been playing rubbish since last round so hopefuly get back on track this week & back to single figures soon .. if not , what the hell eh ..

Cr.p, in fact not that good. :( :( Handicap nearly back to 11 from 9. Didn't defend our winter foursomes cup, and only summer comp I am still in is the singles, and I am playing on Monday so that should see the end of that.

Only good news is I played just as badly last year up until August, when suddenly I found some form. Mind you lightening doesn't strike twice. :(

Got my handicap given to me at the start of the summer and was stuck off 19.....not long after I had the round of my life and shot a gross 81 (par 71) and was cut to 17. Things were starting to come together a bit and my goal of getting to 15 by the end of the summer was looking like it might happen but I was still struggling with an over the top swing and a few club face issues which were causing a horrific slice. I decided to have a couple of lessons and now I can't hit a golf ball to save my life as my swing has completely changed now.

NR'd after 3 holes last night, I was 9 over through 2 holes and was making a complete pigs ear of the 3rd so gave up, then proceeded to go Par Par Par over the next 3 holes (typical!) Hopefully I can get on the range, sort out my new swing, keep the clubface from opening on my back swing, attack the ball from more on an inside line and my HC should start to drop a bit.

As for competitions, don't think I'll be winning any of them any time soon!

Is it really halfway through the season already?? Time flies !

Very happy so far as I've bored you with on here before.

HC from 11 (10.5) down to 8 (8.4)
Overall: 2 wins, a 2nd and a 3rd
Div1: 1 win, a 3rd and a 4th.
Couple of forum wins.
£60 up from 2's.

I don't want to wake up.

The season for me has been really good so far, I had set myself the target of getting down to 12 (started off the year at 16). I am currently at 12.1 and now just trying to keep it there for a few comps before I set myself a new goal.

This also my first season so didn't really know what to expect. I played through the winter just to get playing on a regular basis for the first time. Then too late really had a lesson over Easter which really helped but struggling again of late. I gave myself the target of a 24 hcp by now but I'm on 26 so just missed that, but I'm playing on average my once a week average, some weeks multiple rounds others without any with family commitments etc. I also played my first ever proper comp where I cams last, still enjoyed it, sort of! Overall I'm happy with it and enjoying playing and have met loads of new golf buddies at the course and all you guys! I still aim to get down a bit more maybe dining for 22-24 fir end of season. Work over the winter and really want to bf around mid teens by end of next season.

Really enjoying playing regulary I think is my highlight, that and my birdie chip in on my fifth!

Once again, life has gotten in the way of golf. I've not played that regularly for the last 6 weeks and I've only played in one medal all year long (I buffered).

I've got 4 lessons to get, which I hope I can have some of before I head to Ireland in a fortnight.

My putting is better than last year though :)

I've played a few forum meets this year and had a great time meeting new friends. I've moved courses in June so that has disrupted a lot of stuff but i'm starting to settle in at my new course now.

Handicap wise ? Its gone up in every comp bar one (level par for a 0.5 cut). Not bothered in the slightest though , it'll come back down if I can be bothered to put the effort in.
