Michael Campbell

Good to see him have a good round for a change. It does seem like he's not trying sometimes.
Howeller had a good one as well, after a good finish last week.

Come on you Oldies - show the young whippersnappers how its done!

He shot 68 yesterday, well done him.
What will he shoot today?
After all he misses cuts as if he dosent care any more..........

The same two numbers might be involved, perhaps not in the same order though. :p

I watched Michael Campbell working with Bob Torrance at Gleaneagles during the Johnny Walker. He pured every single shot but i saw no consistent flight on his shots, especially his driver. They were going high, low, right and left. Still hits it miles.
Paul Lawrie who was a couple players further down the range was really impressive with his ball flight, every shot flew the same and landed in a tight grouping.
I hope he plays well, he's struggled for a long time.

I really thought after shooting 68 yesterday he would of shot something under today. It really must be playing on his mind all these cutts he's missing.................

Get well soon mike

It's sad to see Campbell struggle so much as he has always seemed a decent enough guy who has tried to work through his problems. Sadly I don't think he'll ever be good enough to compete successfully on tour again and that eventually he'll give up trying. It's a shame as in his heyday he was a brilliant ball striker with a great touch on the greens. Not sure about the maori inspired clothing range he launched mind but we'll forgive him that fashion crime

One good thing is I expect he has made enough money and gained enough reputation to more than support his family and grow the sport at home. It still is however very sad to see a player I grew up admiring falter in years golfers are expected to be at their prime.

All very sad and reminisent of Ian Baker-Finch. Apparently on the range, in friendlies and pro-ams B-F was still brilliant, then in the real thing.... well he famously missed the 1st fairway at St Andrews didn't he.

Thing is, however badly they may play in the top comps, if these guys were members at our clubs they'd be gods off +4 or something and we'd feel privileged to play with them.
