Members - Clubs - How Far?

20 minutes from home. There are two I'd join in a heartbeat (Blackmoor and North Hants) but they are at least 40 minutes and not practical for summer rounds. At least at my club I can get off the train in Ascot after work jump in a cab, grab my stuff out the locker and be playing.

I think the summer factor is key. Its nice being able to leave the house at 7:30 or even 8pm and get some golf in. If it was 45 mins drive to the course I dont think it would be practical.

last club 1hr 10 mins each way- but for 3 championship courses and superb practice facilities it was worth it.

Travel eventually took its toll, so joined one 5 mins from house, now summer evening golf is back on my radar

About 3/4 minutes in the car. 15 minutes would be the furthest I would go I think

I play a lot of my golf in the summer evenings when kids are in bed so wouldn't give that up and a 20 minute or more journey for 6 or 9 holes would see me not bothering a lot I think.

About 15 - 20 minutes from the house

However about 10 mins from work, which is a big bonus for an after work 18 at the peak of Summer

Home club is about 3 or 4 miles and 10 mins but play most of my golf at my 2nd club which is an hour door to door. I think it's worth it as it is a links so its playable all year round and I don't play a lot anyway so not too much driving.

10-15 minutes in the car but its only about 4 miles - have to cross the town to get to it!
Ideally I wouldn't want it to be any more as some of my golf is played when I have cancelled lessons or q gap in the diary.
If my course was 30 minutes away it would add an hour to my "window".

I work from home so do relatively little driving/commuting. So would travel at least 30 mins to a good club, gives me time to listen to some podcasts in the car.

Club is about 15 mins away..Looking to change clubs for other reasons (not distance)...Was looking at Accrington..Superb greens, tidy little course, and great joining offer, but, alas it was the extra travelling that has put me off, would be 25 mins or so, bit of motorway involved, so looking at possibly paying a bit more, for better all round package (than current), about 10 mins away...Accy does hold a place in my heart though..Tough call for a lot of us i guess.

im 20 minutes away from my club by car, and i pass it on the way home from work most days so summer evenings are easy

there is a club 5 mins from home but i'm happy to travel 20 mins due to the quality of the courses at my club

don't think i would like to travel much more than that from home tbh

My current course is 25-30 mins drive (13 miles), my old course was 2-3 mins drive (1.5 miles). It was this that put me off moving courses for a few years, now that I have made the switch, I wish I had done it years ago. The quality of the course and the online booking system :D make it such more appealing. I think I was spoiled previously with living so close, and would think 20 mins or so is probably average for most people. I certainly wouldn't let a difference of 25 mins or so cloud a judgement if the course package etc was far superior.

Currently 10mins, max 20mins. I had a short spell, due to house move, of being 30 minutes away and it did impact. Fine for the organised 18 hole moments but I often want to do 9 holes spontaneously, particularly in summer and over 20 minutes tends to kill that off. My own views of course.

I am about 15 minutes away which I find ideal. Anything above 30 could be come a bit of a pain. Not much trouble of that round here, there must be about 8 courses that are within that distance.

9 miles door to door.

12 mins on a Sunday morning, 20-25 mins midweek during term time.

It's about 5 miles and takes about 10 minutes. It would have to be a very good course for me to go more than 20 minutes

8 -12 minutes traffic dependent, ideally wouldn't want more than 20 minutes for a home club, although I might stretch that to 30 minutes for a special case.

45 mins drive - I'm lucky as its on my way to work so I finish at 3.30 most days and can get 9 holes in during the summer. I have 2 courses within 15 mile or a 15 min drive but 1 wants 3000euro joining fee and 800euro playing fees and the other wants 2000euro jpoining fee and 600euro playing fee - my joining fee was 200euro and I pay 400quid a year so drive is worth it - decent and friendly club as well
