Measuring a course

Ok quick sill question.....130 yard par 3 measured tee box to flag straight line easy

Par 5 520yrd dog leg left how is the measurement done?

Sorry if there is an obvious answer to this :o

There's a 450 yard dog leg left par 4 at a local course. It never ceases to amaze me that I often hit a 240 yard tee shot, a 4 iron 2nd shot and still have 100 yards. I must add about 80 yards to that hole the way I play it! :o

Yeh, I set myself up for that one. :)

I tend to measure both 1st and 2nd shot on this hole using skycaddie.

I think the non-golfing term for the way I play that hole is "tacking" as in sailing!

I'm not tight with money but if I have paid for a round I want to see as much of the course as possible....and why would I take 72 shots when I can take 128 I want value for money :D

i used google maps measuring tool one day to check a few holes on my course. not to bad but doesnt account for the contours. is distance measured as the crow flys or is it across the ground?
