Club singles match play knockout. Player A has in effect had 2 byes and then plays Player B. Player A wins match. Notifies result to committee (terms of competition silent on when result is deemed final).
Turns out Player A is ineligible for competition (not eligible membership category, though again terms less than clear).
Player A dq’ed from comp. is it permissible under the rules to put Player B through to next round?

We had something similar last year. I played in our foursomes knockout and had a good game but we lost on the 17th. A week later we got a random message saying we were back in the competition and gave details of our opponents, no reason as to why. We only found out later that one of the guys we played had not renewed his membership in time so was not eligible.

We had something similar one year the player in question had reached the final.
It turned out to be an office error in accepting his entry so the whole comp was cancelled.

That would be Committee Procedures 6G(2) - dealing with withdrawals and disqualifications in match play.

Committee Procedures 7D is also relevant. It deals with issues - including administrative errors of the Committee - brought to the attention of the Committee after the competition is closed.

Addendum. Administrative errors include having allowed ineligible players to enter.

Thanks - exactly the sort of thing I was looking for
