Looking back on the majors of the naughties, I was trying to think of my favourite one.
We've not had a "duel in the sun" type major in the last ten years and to be honest there have been more than a few instantly forgettable ones.
Carnoustie 2007 is the first one to spring to mind, mainly because it's my home course and I was present, but I also enjoyed Big Phil's first major at Augusta and also Ogilvy pipping Monty and Mickelson in the US Open.
Other than 2008 US Open, most of Tiger's wins have been a bit of a procession and I don't think any of them would figure in my "Major of the Decade"

What's yours?

I really enjoyed Paddy's in 08 cos it won me a small fortune!! ;)

.....and the golf was pretty good with my hero when I was growing up rolling back the years.

Also Tiger at Pebble Beach in 2000 was pretty grand to watch. To blitz the field by 15 shots on a course that played so tough for everyone else was something else.

I think the major off the decade for me would have to be the 2006 Open at hoylake because it was a golfing masterclass from Tiger hit the driver twice all week and showed how you can play this great game with complete simplicity.

Other than that 2008 US Open dont think there will be to many people to win a major with a broken leg.

Jacks last open in 2005 at the home of golf was pretty special too.

Tiger @ Pebble Beach 2000 was special just because he destroyed everyone, but the major of the decade has to be Torrey Pines tiger winning on 1 leg, it had everything.

Padraig v Sergio at Carnoustie is my favourite too. Lots of excitement.

I have to say I was watching Ogilvie win the US Open on the edge of my chair as I had a bit of cash on Monty to win and he just needed ONE good shot. That gutted me. I felt so flat afterwards and still think Ogilvie robbed those others. Never liked him since.

Other highlights for me personally were watching Woods win in 2005. I won a packet on him and went to South Africa on holiday with the proceeds. I won another packet on Andres Romero coming top ten at Hoylake. He scraped in joint 8th so that was fun and I was dancing in the pub with my pals.

There haven't been any exciting Masters for ages with someone I've been rooting for. Hopefully sometime soon.

If Tom Watson had won at Turnberry then that would have been my favourite Major of all time!

I can't remember 40 majors. Of the ones I do the standouts were Paddy-Open in 07, Tiger- Masters in 05 and funnily enough Michael Campbell winning US Open at Pinehurst also in 2005 I think.

Winner is Paddy Harrington at Carnoustie in 07 - the drama was terrific.

Tigers majors were awesome but many were too one sided to be that memorable.

I think the drama of Harrington's first win was hard to beat. The tenacity of Woods to get into the playoff at Torrey Pines and go onto win was huge. Monty hitting the worst shot of his week at the wrong time was actually sad to see. Like him or not he'd played himself into contention in tough conditions and just hit a rank poor shot

2008 US Open, no question. Would haved loved to see Rocco win but he loved being there and swapped punches with Tiger all the way. Great to watch.

The only competition would have been if Tom Watson could have sunk that putt on the last in The Open. Was another big, big highlight though.

Yep, no arguments from me.

Sadly, as I don't have sky and miss the US Open and PGA, I'd only ever vote for Masters and THE Open.
