Lovely day for a game......

Re: Lovely day for a game...... Big Thank You to Smiffy

Yeah a great day, thoroughly enjoyable, but I can't remember being so hot on a golf course in this country ever! Bloody hell, it was scorching. Sorry I haven't posted earlier but had to dash out with my daughter after the game and do some shopping etc. and then out for a meal last night, by the time I got back in I was absolutely knackered.
It was nice to meet up with the lads again, and I'm glad they all enjoyed their first visit to Highwoods.
As Roger says, scoring wasn't easy because of the greens. Very firm, not many shots (if any) would hold on them and it was a day filled with very long putts! Leftie in particular played brilliantly. I have played with him now on about four or five occasions and I have never seen him drive as well as he was yesterday. I don't think he missed a fairway all day, a superb exhibition of straight driving...and most of it done with his 3 wood.
Tight matchplay going with him, it see-sawed one way and then the other during the 18 holes but eventually ended up a halved match, which on the face of it was a fair result.
Chris (Golfmmad) was also driving very well, I think he was hitting the ball off the tee a lot better, and more consistantly, than he was at Chartham Park a few weeks ago.
I finished on 35 points with 1 blob...the shortest bloody hole on the course! My driving seems to be back, I was making a conscious effort to open my stance up a little bit and this seemed to be working. I've got my distance back! And the putting woes I was suffering seem to be taking a back seat, a couple of three putts but to be honest I was in three putt country on them both. No silly little missed 2 footers so generally well pleased with my game.
Thanks again for the game lads...we will definitely do it again and you are more then welcome to come back to Highwoods whenever you want.
Rob
