Looking to join a course in Essex

Afternoon All,

I am looking take on my first membership at a local course, that is fairly close to my home & work in Essex (Rainham / Dagenham / Ockendon / Upminster areas).

I have narrowed it down to Top Meadow and Cranham Golf Course, both are sub £650 per annum, and would ideally like to stay in this price bracket or less, I'm just having trouble finding one around here that meets that criteria.

I have read and heard good things and bad things about each, but ultimatley I will play them both and decide after that, just wanted to know if anyone else could recomend me any other courses that i could look into?

Have you tried Brentwood golf course ( formerly known as Weald park ) ? They are spending a lot of money on the course and its a nice parkland type course.

cranham golf course is nice and it's also very playable in winter when a lot of the other courses are a bit boggy.

i am also lookin gat joining a course in next month or 2 and also from dagenham, Cranham is a gerat course but doesnt have a bar or anything there which is putting me off a bit for social use as well, Top meadow is fantastic and looking into that. I played brentwood last week and the courses condition was fantastic even forgetting the fact its winter. I have enquired about hainault due to the fact it has 2 courses there so is good to vary it up a bit.

Just need to have the guts to just join a course forgetting the fact i no no one there

I havent but have only heard good things, being a bit lazy, its a bit far, ideally i want something between home and work for ultra convienience!

I agree with Cranham about the social aspect, and I know Top Meadow excels in that area, so best of both worlds with them two.
I believe Hainault will be a bit out of my price range, but love btoh courses over there.
I too will be joining a club in which i know no body, but just want to take the plunge and join one. If you fancy giving Top Meadow a spin in the next few weeks, give me a pm, we can test it out together :cheers:
