I have just purchased a pair of FJ Icons for summer use and a pair of Nike Heritage for winter use and would like to know the best way to look after them?
Especially if they get wet.
What do you do with yours ?

Bung them into the tumble drier at the hottest setting possible. Jobs a good un!

If the course has an airline don't be lazy and head straight for your car boot. Give them a good blast off.

If I've had a bad round...(I know this may sound mental) I'll punish myself and make sure I clean then as soon as I get home, come rain, hail or thunder. If its been a good round I'll leave them till I can be bothered.
For your Icons its may be worth getting a shoe Tree to keep them looking at their best.

If they get wet I put loads of old newspaper in them to retain their shape and soak the moisture out. Let them dry naturally for a few days and then polish them. I put them in shoe horns to store them. I tend to put a dubbin on them once every few months to help keep the leather supple. As I've got at least 4-5 pairs of dryjoys that are 3+ years and showing no signs of cracking or leaking it must do something for them.

Do you spank yourself as well??

I clean them off after the game with an air blower. Take them home, give them a wipe over with a damp cloth and leave them in the porch overnight to dry out, then give them a coat of Aquinous Nickwax. This cleans them but creates a good waterproof coating.

Airlone to blow the grass and mud off if possible. Or a brush that I keep in case the airline is broken. Then damp towel over them and then dry towel rub down after that. Once totally dry Armorall leather wipes. For car seats in a tub like baby wipes. Give them a dose of saddle wax every few weeks or more depending how wet they get. Keeps them soft and easier to keep clean and they shine like mad lol

Thank you
I have ordered a FJ shoe care kit which should have the bits i need.
With what they cost i do not want to be replacing them to often.

Like people keep saying clean them with the airline after you finish playing. I got bought a footjoy shoe care kit a couple of years ago and it has everything you need. When you first get them rub a good few layers of wax dubbing into them. If they are white this will definitely help keep them white. I always wear white shoes both summer and winter and have no problem with them loosing their colour during winter. Make sure you use a good white shoe polish on them, do not just brush it on rub right into them with a duster and get the polish into all the little awkward bits.

I like clean shoes, odd maybe but why not? After the round I air line them, pop shoe trees in, get home and sponge them off and allow them to dry out naturally, job done it must take all of 5 minutes. Before next game give them a polish if they need it.

Mrs AAC just bought me Icon Myjoys, in a very natty black combo with patent wing tips, they look great when clean.

am i alone in enjoying the act of polishing shoes, used to polish my dads when i was a nipper till they could "kick a midges eye out" i wear ecco black classics and enjoy having a good shine on my shoes cherry blossom polish rubbed in with my finger then two brushes to buff and polish then finish with a cloth, always fit a shoe stretcher,in the summer when it is shorts weather i tend to buy a sport style shoe in the sales £25-£30 range but bin them when the season ends no matter how much you try you cant keep them looking as smart as the classics.

I just blow them off with the air gun at the course take them out of my boot to let them dry off (most of the time) and wipe them with a damp sponge and dry with kithen towel. My black shoes I'll also polish now and then. Always use footjoys and get through about three pairs a year (Have Contours, Dryjoys and AQLs at the moment).
I must admit, my white shoes do suffer with cracking, but they still look okay. The comfort it more important to me

Air blower then leave in the house in the back cupboard to dry in their own time, I have 2 pairs for winter. I also have a newish pair of dryjoys tour bought in the states last year but they'll see daylight again in the spring.

I normally buy 1 new pair a year but play with 3 pairs keeping my best pair for medal day.
