Thats a par 4:eek:

They've got the wrong hole mate. It was at the 5th with the pin tight front left. Out of the first five groups all had two eagles on their cards except us as we didn't have any.Maybe those putts will drop for us today!

ahhh Hep girdle I think its called meaning upturned saucer or similar, lovely par 3 and a real toughy from the championship tees, not far really 6-8 or 9 iron but miss the green and its almost a guaranteed bogie or worse.

good luck today (I must try harder to qualify for this next year)

Ive only played it the once, was about 7 or 8 years ago but I remember that hole Well. Het Girdle, absolutely stunning.
There was a huge variation lengthwise in the tees, all 5 of them.

Good luck Andy

The lads from my club are looking forward to a better round today :) classic tale from them on yesterday - hit the ball well but couldn't make a score.

Get in there Andy, fantastic win

Look who is in second place, no surprise they qualified. Most of the north west will know what im talking about. Glad they didn't win.

I thought that as well, He must have had to play in a qualifier to get through tho. Very familiar name indeed!

Brilliant well done Andy,

Steve Parry is a friend of mine, played with him in a pro am, he can really bomb it, don't know his amateur partner though.

Is Andy still walking around in a drunken haze !!!

What wonderful scoring and a great win for you both :whoo:

Thank you all for your kind words it's been an amazing week at an awesome venue with an unbelievable outcome!

I'm not going to bore you with the full two round blow by blow account as, to be honest, most of the first round was a bit of a blur and the front nine was a steady bit of play from both of us.
we hit the turn at 11 under so Rich asked the PGA what the scores were and they told us we were tied for the lead with the team in the group in front of us.
As we walked onto the 10th tee Rich said that I had a series of scoring holes coming up. At that point we didn't realise quite how right he was and I didn't realise how good it had been until I looked at the scorecard earlier this evening!
The nett birdie on 10 got the back nine off to a flying start and the nett par on 11 kept the momentum going as the pin didn't even look as though it was on the green from the tee!
12,13 and 14 are a set of holes I will never forget. Screaming a driver over the ridge and down the left of the fairway on 12 left me a great angle in to the pin. Wedge on, two putts and walk to the next tee.
On 13 I hit another superb drive down the left out driving both pros and leaving a 7 iron to the front of the green which was perfect as the pin was back centre with the green feeding down to it. I hit one of the best shots of my life which pitched on the front and ran to about 8 foot from the pin. Shame the putt just slid past.
14 had been a hole which I couldn't get the drive away on the previous two days I stripped another one out the middle of the club face and onto the middle of the green again the putt slid past the hole but I got the return for a great birdie.
On 15 we both got good drives away and Rich knocked it to about 8 feet tucking away a great birdie putt.
As we walked to the 16th tee there was another member of the PGA team and we checked on the scores half expecting to find out we were 2 or 3 ahead after such an amazing run but no we were only ONE shot clear.
On 16 I hit a clean wedge to the middle of the green leaving Rich to go for the pin which he did very well leaving a 10 footer for birdie which he drained superbly. We asked again about the scores and were were STILL one shot clear as the team two groups ahead had birdied 17.
We had to keep running to stand still the standard was that good.
Onto 17 and we knew we had to at least par it as most of us amateurs had a shot up 18 so we had to expect them to get at least a par nett birdie.
I had no option but to put the driver away for this tee shot and hit a sweet 3 wood right up the middle of the fairway which Rich followed up with a hybrid. Rich knocked his to about 14 feet and I hit mine just off the front right of the green. Two putts and it's another nett birdie.
Having just watched one of the pros hit his driver into one of the bunkers short of the ridge and with no tail wind I didn't think I could make it either but Rich told me to put it away and crack a driver down there. I took aim at he starters hut and pulled the trigger. Watching the ball fly high, clear the ridge and bounce forward to about 320 yards from the tee was amazing.
Rich pulled his tee shot a little left by the bunkers on that side but decided to take the shot on for the middle of the green as the pin was on the left hand side of the green. Rich got on the front middle of the green giving me the confidence to take on a similar shot to give us three shots for the nett birdie and guarantee the win. Even with the nerves trying everything to put me off I hit a great shot just a bit wider than Rich. Rich putted first to show me the pace and swing of the putt and left his about 3 foot from the pin for an easy birdie tap in. I hit my putt but left it a bit short and left leaving about a 9 footer for a nett eagle. Our opponents putted out to give us the green and Rich putted out to make sure of the win but left me with the eagle putt to get us to -20, for me to have hit the first and last shot of the tournament and to give us our only eagle of the two rounds. We picked the line, lined up the line on the ball, I took aim and hit about as sweet a putt as I had all week which rolled end over end right into the middle of the hole.
After 25 years of trying without even getting to a final Richard had made it and won it with a record score, tied the record low score for a round and made me a very very happy man indeed.
