I have a lesson at 1:30pm on Friday (29th) and I'm keen to cement any of my faults beforehand so the pro can fix them ;)

If anyone fancies a round in the morning let me know.

My Dad's a member there!

Which pro are you seeing?

I'd love to have joined you but it's the school holidays........ :D

I'm seeing Andrew Jones - seen him twice before and it went really well. Got a 2-hour slot booked and I'm hoping he sorts my driving out as that's what's letting my game down at the moment.

Bah, school holidays? Perfect time to play! ;)

Great guy! He'll see you right.

OK, I'll bring the kids with me........ :)

I'm wondering whether a 'Littlestone' forum meet is in order........

I'm down in kent for 2 weeks but not down until Friday night.

I'm booked in for 2 opens at Princes, have a free round at one other place. I checked on 100 best golf courses and it mentions Littlestone.

I am now torn between Littlestone, Canterbury, Knole and is it Broome? I can use an open fairways passport to get some discount. Any pointers/advice?

Littlestone has just had final Open qualifying - it'll be in great condition and features in this month's GM.

It is personal preference but I prefer Littlestone to Princes, it is just unassuming and a great test of golf. The last 3 holes are really enjoyable and always leave me wishing i didnt live a two hour drive away as I could happily knock it round there until i croak.

Never played the other two you mention so cant compare.

Whoa...

The Op said Littlestone Warren.

Littlestone is a different course entirely.

The thread's kinda split now though....

The OP wants a knock around Littlestone Warren but the Scouse one wants to know about Littlestone.

Confusion reigns........

Littlestone GC is a lovely course. Played it a few times and like the poster above, I actually prefer it to Princes. Playing in an Open there in August and really looking forward to it. Usually in very good condition, with greens being super slick.

As Leftie says, Littlestone Warren is a totally different course.

It's right next door to Littlestone (you can get very confused when you turn up to play and go to the wrong clubhouse!) and isn't so expensive to play, more of a "pay and play" course.
I've never played there myself but hear it's not too bad at all.

Yep. It's Littlestone Warren I'm talking about. Would love to play the championship course next door but its a bit too expensive for me at the moment (as I'm paying for a 2-hour lesson too). Warren is just £22. To confirm its this one: http://www.littlestonewarren.co.uk/home so if anyone wants a round Friday morning I'm game.

I'd def be up for a forum meet at the other (very nice) Littlestone course tho, some time in the future :)

The setup is that Littlestone Golf Club is the main course that is used for open qualifying. Oddly, for these days, most of the golf there is restricted to 2 ball except (I think) 2 days a week. It a great links course and a real test when theres a puff of wind.

Littlestone Warren (formerly Romney Warren) is the 18 hole pay and play course that is attached to the main course and runs alongside. It's where most new golfers learned to play as 20+ years ago it was the only pay and play course within miles. It's shorter and easier than the main course but can be great fun and is suprisingly well maintained

Andrew Jones, a Golf Monthly Top 25 coaches is the resident Pro there and operates for both courses and has a small but well stocked shop, a small driving range and a super teaching facility. He is one of lifes real nice guys and a great tutor

I hope this helps

Chris

I think you'll find that Wednesdays are the only days they allow fourball play.
As you say, it's a great course and like most true links really comes into it's own when the breeze is up.
Closing stretch is as tough as it gets anywhere.

I know they allow 3 and 4 balls on Wednesdays and some of the members are pressuring for other days too. I have done a 4 ball on different days when its empty and the secretary is in an obliging mood!

I just wanted to say that the 17th hole played in the early evening as the sun starts to set is the most stunning par 3 hole I have ever seen

Indeed it is. Especially when viewed from the 5ft high grass about 12 feet to the left of the green.
That'll be a blob then
:o :o :o :o :o :o :D

Been there, done that and got the blob to prove it!
