Links or parkland ???

Links is OK and some of the views are stunning, but i do like a tree lined fairway and as I don't live near the coast links is not a real option for me.

I thought you preferred a burnt out car lined fairway?

Shhhh its a hidden gem

Once we got a reduced green fees as there were gypsys camped on the 16th fairway.

Another time they said keep an eye out as there had been reports of someone with a gun near the 11th tee.

Loads of top quality courses in all categories. It depends on what you like as an individual but I've played some courses in all categories (parkland, heathland and links) that I'd happily play the rest of my life if I had the chance

I don't really know the differences properly if I'm honest. I just like to play golf. As long as it's a nice course I'm fine, not really bothered if it's one of the 3 types. Not sure whether Wimbledon would be classed as parkland or heathland but that's where I play mostly. Possibly the nicest course I've played Ardglass? In northern Ireland. I think that's a links?

Ardglass is not a links, but, that said, it's nearly impossible to fit into any category. It's in the Ardglass category, all on its own!

I like it a lot. I just do. I shall invent coastal. It's coastal.

Yes, I like that. Coastal

Links.

On saying that I'm a member of both, surely if you are within a decent/short enough drive to the coast you would do the same. No reason not to but I suppose folk have their priorities, or not enough cash, or a wife that they must ask

Anything at the minute, must have had 30hrs of rain yesterday and the weekend looks a washout again ☔️😞 Might need to travel out of my area for a round on Saturday in readiness for 2 days on the Kent coast 🏌⛳️

I love all types of golf courses, links, parkland, heathland etc, love it when they are playing really hard, so really windy or the like but wouldn't want to play that kind of courses weekly as it would do my head in. .I play golf to enjoy and have a nice relaxing walk !

Personally I would love to play week in and week out, on a lovely mature parkland course in full leaf, and shrubs(rhoddies, heather or like) in flower, just lovely to the eye.

Not sure I'd class Wimbledon as parkland or heathland. I always thought, especially in summer it played very linksy. At a push I would say heathland

Member of a heathland...and I love parkland courses. Haven't played much links golf, but want to, even if my ball flight isn't suited to it!

My favorite kinds....

1. Mountain courses....think 6000 feet plus in Colorado with drops of 100 plus feet on some holes. Just stunningly beautiful.

2. Desert courses. Not like the ones they play at the Bob Hope Classic or whatever they call it now but relatively unmanicured flat desert layouts where you can risk the desert to take a shortcut and the wind is always some kind of factor.
