Played royal portrush yesterday with a some friends, one who is a member. Fantastic course, the weather was superb all day. Had a great time, played the course several times and it keeps getting better.

I would really strongly disagree with you. North Berwick is at least three steps above anything Gullane has to offer.

Agree with this, I played Gullane the day after the Scottish open and although I had fun playing and it was nice but it left me wanting something. Where as I've played the West a few times and love it every time no matter how I play. It's a great course with a few lovely holes, the 13th probs being my favourite. But tbh I love them all.

Had a nice round last night - really benign conditions for the links made it a pleasure to play. Shot 2 over par 75 and I'd be pretty happy with that when the pressure is on tomorrow....

Managed to take a few pictures - some dramatic weather over in Fife it would appear but was really pleasant in East Lothian...
