Hello all,
My lady and I are plan in on taking off to this part is the world for a weekend in a couple of weeks time. We're members of the RSPB, so will visit their site in Dungeness.

Rather pleasingly, my lady suggested I find a golf course with a sea view to play while we're there. (she'll stroll round wih me), so...

Looking at the map, it appears Hythe isn't far, tho' a drive isn't an issue either, quite like the look of Walmer & Kingsdown!

Looking for recommendations please. Bear in mind i don't have an official handicap, & St. Georges / Princes etc appear to be spendy!

Thanks for any help,
Craig.

Try Littlestone GC, a great course and you dont need to show a h'cap certificate. Next door is Littlestone Warren GC - not the same calibre but a decent test.

Beat me to it. Littlestone is a great course. Tough in places. Haven't played "The Warren" so can't comment.
For Gods sake though.....don't go and play at Lydd.

Yes, another vote for Littlestone.

However, it is very tough if windy, especially the last 3 (as hard as Carnoustie's last 3, if into the wind).Score on the front nine, and hold it on the back, if possible. I finished 3rd with 34 stableford points in an open recently, so shows how hard it can be in the wind.

You wont see the sea much from the course though, maybe only on the 16th or 17th, as it is in a bit of a dip.

If you like a parkalnd course, I enjoyed Canterbury also, and they have twilight options.

Littlestone is a fabulous course, Romney Warren is a sister course that is easier but fun. Walmer &Kingsdown is a well kept course but with lots of blind shots and the balls run off fairways a lot with the slopes on their terrain. Royal Cinque ports at Deal is tough but a great cousre in the mould of Littlestone,

Inland, Ashford, Sene Valley, Faversham and Canterbury are all lovely parkland courses (Sene is a mixture, a bit park land and a bit linksy)

If you want to know a bit more about any particular one, just shout - don't play Lydd though!

Chris

Thank you all, Littlestone it is!

Gonna set the lady off to look for somewhere to stay for the 2 nights. Very grateful indeed.

Any recommendations on hotels / BnB's? ;)
Craig

[edit] Oh yeah, my lady spotted Lydd when we had the initial idea, and I said I thought I remember you folk saying it was one to avoid... Why was that?

Have a look on the photo section.

HTL felt quite at home worrying the sheep as did Homer looking for his OOB ball on the first, but apart from that,

Seen the review / pics in the forum, I see what you mean :D

I noticed you're not one to sit on the fence, Smiffy!

Thanks again all,
Craig.
