"Like"

Don't want a "Basically" or "Literally" button either :D

It may work, some people may try to post to not receive them though! Am open minded on it.

I can see the benefit of it potentially, a like and or thanks button could save a lot of needless replies to posts. Also number of thanks could be used as a rating system for users, ie how many times they have been thanked for helpful posts. Would give credibility to them.

If it's easy to administer then why not, if it's a ball ache, don't bother!

Pretty much what I was thinking. Would be a nice quick way of saying 'cheers'. Also thought that if it's a pain to set up then it's not that important!

Why would you be against having one - you don't have to 'like' any posts if you don't want to. And if you never 'like' anything then no-one will be upset or bothered if you don't 'like' a post of theirs.

Probably useful if you have a very fragile ego and are very needy, therefore are desperate to get the acceptance of your fellow posters through them thinking your posts are of a high enough quality to be 'liked'.

So I'd say a good idea, as that sums up most people on chat forums ;)

May be an unlike as well so I can show my boredom at threads and polls about how tall people are. Really??????

With the above in mind, What's the point in having a like button?

Because some people might wish to 'like' posts and others might like to see how 'liked' their posts are. If you don't want to like anything then you don't use the like button - nobody is forcing you to. After all a 'like' button is only really a quick, simple and standard do you like/dislike - agree/disagree poll against every posting.

Whilst I too would like such a button, the place would go into meltdown within a few hours. The anger that would be displayed by some on here for receiving 'unlikes' would be a sight to see.
