Liam Neeson Interview

I don't condone his actions or motives but he didn't have to say anything. He was the only person who knew this. He will have known the reaction that he would receive by stating this and admitting he was wrong. That takes some doing as he's made a career defining statement by admitting to his thought process at the time of the incident.

What would've happened if his friend had said she had been raped by a white guy.:cautious:
He said whether they were white, Irish, Armenian etc. he'd have done the same. As I say I don't condone his thought process but views were different forty years ago. You only have to see the TV programmes of the day. Would I have done what he did then? I don't know. I didn't have a friend who'd been raped but I'd like to think not.

So is it really racist, 40 years later

Not sure about racist but more likely incredibly stupid. No idea why he had to say such a tone deaf thing in the current climate. Wasn't he promoting his latest film which no doubt involves him taking revenge and killing bad people after someone attacked his wife, kid, dog, vegetable patch, like most of his films in the last few years. And he probably thought it would be a good anecdote to tie in with the themes of the film. Daft &^^&.

Saw it this morning not really sure my thoughts on it to be honest. He didn't have to admit it to it or raise the details of it.

Also the context of what it was and how emotions come into it 40 years ago would be a very different thought process to current day.

I don't think he's a racist or necessarily that an incident from back then should mean he is judged today as racist, I do think it was very stupid to come out with it as he has but I think somethwere deep down he was saying this because at heart he isn't racist but acknowledge that at the time he thought in the wrong way.. Only Liam Neeson really knows even with this interview coming out we will only know the little we are fed.

I think Barnes has it right really. Think he sums it up well. Neeson reacted to one incident with a largely racist course of action, and then realised his actions had been terrible wrong. No need to chastise him for it now really. Bold honesty from Neeson, and I do believe as he says it raises a point about how many people can easily slip into a racist viewpoint based on one event.

Recently joined up...my take on this would be, Liam did what most of us would do but we not ready to accept it..If someone close to you is violated at times we act on the immediate impulse
some take longer than the one week his did..if it is a red-hair, blue eyed guy..whoever..you see them you feel like you want to get some sort of revenge..
His comments were taken out of context and i think he did good by clarifying that it was a dumb thing to do.

Whilst I can understand the need for some people to get revenge, I'm not 100% if someone violated someone close to me I'd be asking about the colour of someones eyes or hair so I could take out my revenge on all gingers. Do people really think that if someone with blue eyes did something horrible to someone you know you'd want revenge on someone who has blue eyes?

This absolutely. Wouldn't surprise me if he made the story up to echo the narrative of his new film.

I've said this as well. Just sniff the air. Has he said anything like this before????

"There's no such think as bad publicity".

don't know who said this.

A snowplow driver seeks revenge against drug dealers he thinks killed his son.
