Well herd all you guys cracking on about the new titleist driver and how good it was so I decided I would bring it into the equation when testing out some drivers this afternoon. Had a dummy custom fit as my mate turned pro this year and his new place have got a v-flight so i got a free "test" with him. Well the following stats were from what i hit:

My driver TM 510TP - Average carry from 15 balls 278yards
Ping i15 tour stiff shaft - Average carry from 15 balls 296yards
Titlist 910D2 Project x shaft -Average carry from 15 balls 306yards

I was swinging hard so i would tone down for the course but i was impressed and i do not normally get along with Titleist drivers at all.

Actually im not 100% certain if that is carry or total distance i wud have to clarify i was too in the zone haha

If it was total distance you need to try a bit harder ;)

:o i think i mite be gettinfg ahead of myself, it must be toal distance, thats too far on the carry like. I wish i cud get the spin rate down a little.

Was this out on real ground (Doppler radar type) or one of the simulators (camera beside the tee job)?

was a v-flight on the range. Absolutly frozen. going up next week so im gunna take a photo of the display on the laptop so i can see what all the readings actually mean. Does the machine take into coniseration it was 2 degrees? or does it just generalise the weather conditions?

I hit a Titleist D10 also with a project x shaft on range that was snow covered last week. It felt good but we couldn't measure distances - seems to me that 306 yards is quite short for us guys on here so I might have to keep looking

Seriously though, it was the first Titleist driver that I have ever been able to hit well and I'm seriously considering buying one

Chris

I hope it's as good as everyone says it is, finding it hard to resist (not that I'm trying very hard).

Have you been on a monitor with the old 909 as well?

Yer, my spin rate that i generated was way too high, ballooned everything just like with all other titleist drivers i experienced. I hit my TM driver longer than all of them.

yer this is the only one ive liked from them aswel. looks a good pear shape too

If I found a driver that hit the ball 310 I'd have whapped oot the credit card!

No hesitation!

Distance is never a consideration for me buying a new driver as I never hit it that far. 260 in summer max and probably 230 at this time of year if I nail one. Accuracy is my issue especially being a short hitter and I really need a way to find the short grass more often

If you found a driver that hit the ball 310 I'd be seriously concerned for the guy in the shop that you'd be whapping oot more than just a credit card

Why doesn't anyone come on here bragging that they haven't missed a fairway for weeks with the driver, its always distance :( I just want to hit it straight cos am fed up just booming it 340 yards OOB ;)

Both u and homer make a very gud point and this is something I want to point out. The reason I was happy, true i mentioned the distance but i hit it a reasonable distance anyway im sure i cud smash a cobra that distance anyday. This driver gave my a lot more control over the flight.

I didnt fiddle with the weights of shaft setup, i wudnt know how. I hit it and i got a consistent flight out of each one. Sure i only hit 15 balls with it but the feel i got from it was like nothing so far.

I dnt know whether this had something to do with the stiffer shaft put in it but i enjoyed hitting it. Sure il miss fairways, i bloody do now, only whereas im normal oscar bravo, i might actually find the ones i hit with this driver.

306 is immense :)

Thats long i mean the pga tour average for 2010 was 287 and to hit it 306 would mean being about 6th in the distance rankings.

Hitting that far would mean chipping back at a few holes i would think ;)

Was this with the stock project x shaft - the 7C3 ? If so did you not find it a bit soft considering how far you hit it, or did it have an upgraded ie stiffer PX shaft?
