Anyone putt right handed with the left hand down grip?

I am naturally left handed and was thinking of trying this, anyone switched putting grip and found this helped. Had a little go at home and it felt odd but then when trying to change something it does often feel odd at first.

I did and found the strike was so much better, sound was better also.

It takes a lot of getting used to especially lag distance putts, and just feeling comfortable with it. If you are a bit of a 'flipper' right handed, like I am, you will see and feel an instant difference.

I had a play around with it in the summer as my club pro was using it on the putting green. I didn't like it but if you are making plenty of putts does it matter. Look at the pros using claw hammer and other awful looking ways of holding the flat stick but they still make the important ones

Only ever seen one person use this and he was an ok putter.

Biggest problem I have at the moment is my putting so just thinking of trying different things. When I have a go left hand down cannot get the grip to feel correct though.

padraig won three majors left hand low!
I use it, my putting from inside 15-20 feet has greatly improved and dont pull putts :p
it does take getting used to though and commitment to stick with it.
I changed for more consistancy and it helped.

Did Harrington putt left hand low ? Never realised that

:)
anytime your back give me a shout mate.

I changed as was playing a lot with a few good low handicappers who putted very solid this way so I give it a go and found it very comfortable and it give me a smoother stroke, horses for courses though.

I did it for a year or so a good while back - worked for a good while but I ended up going back after it stopped working - I putted one handed for a wee while too (right hand only) - holed loads - still been known to knock in a one handed putt about half a dozen holes into a tight match - screws with the opponents brain when it goes in

I use the left hand low grip, have done for years. It looks normal to me when i address a putt, although when i see someone else putt like it, it looks wrong! If i hit a bad putt it is usually a pull but lag putts are good. I like the way the back of my left hand is parallel to the club face, just find this easier when thinking about my target.

I tried this for a while but I went back. In my case a simple tip from a fellow club player who happens to be a decent putter helped a lot more. I think with putting in particular I recommend watching how others do it at your club and take advice from them.

I play off 9 but it never ceases to amaze me how many wonderful putters of the ball that I come across that have handicaps 18+ I'd happily swap my putting game with theirs. One guy in particular plays off 21 and on the green he could be Cat1 and you wouldn't know it.

Had a play again at home last night, I do seem to putt a little more constintly straight this way however I can't seem to get the grip right.

Anyone got a link to the various grips for left hand low?

I think I will leave this a little while and stick to normal as all I have at the moment are comps so would rather not try changing in a comp.

ive putted left hand low for 10 years now, wouldn't go back!

me too. after paddy recommended this method in GM i tried and never looked back. as gerryinderry mentioned my bod putts are mostly pulled left but the same can be said with right hand low. imo pulling putts is the number 1 reason for amateurs to miss

try to get comfy with a grip that suits u. most people I see go for a baseball style grip but I interlock two fingers so little finger annd ring finger off left hand with middle and index off right hand I also use a super stroke grip its a slim one but is square all way down hands feel very relaxed.
