Launch angle question

I've a question.
I have been on a launch monitor today.
My question is.
Should I be looking at a launch angle for any given club that roughly equates to the degree of the club that I am hitting.

The reason I ask is.
A while ago I bought some Callaway Mavrik hybrids in a regular shaft & I struggle to get decent height on the shot.
I also still have my old Adams Super S hybrids also fitted with a regular shaft, but ultra lite.
I hit my old Adams hybrids must higher with a lovely ball flight but not as far as the Callaways
the Adams are quite old though.

I'm thinking that the Callaway shafts are maybe too stiff / heavy for me?

Could be they are .
Launch angle Is dependant on your delivery into the ball.
Different shafts will give different launch conditions if they deliver the head delofted/ lofted.

Yes, I get that.
I guess what I want to know is to achieve a good strike / delivery should I be aiming to get a launch angle simular to the degree of loft for that particular club?
Or am I misunderstanding this?

There are some different numbers floating around depending on which monitor.

Excluding driver, the better players are generally a lot lower than club loft.

You have to scroll a fair way down but launch is listed below, and LPGA may be more relevant to many of us as a target

As a long time 'loft adder' a big part of my practice the last couple of years has been trying to lower

No your not.
If you strike the ball perfectly at the bottom of your swing arc the ball should take off at the loft presented on the head.
That’s very rare but can be done,
Custom fitting gives you the correct shaft to get as close as you can.

I would add with a hybrid wisdom says hit down like an iron .
So your low point is in front of the ball, this will deloft it a bit, how much depends on your hands forward position and delivery angle of attack.

In a nutshell no. There is a metric called “Dynamic Loft” this is a measurement of how you’re delivering the club to ball and creating ur launch etc.

Dynamic loft should be lower than the static loft of the club ur using and taking into account your AOA.

I’ve attached a shot of a Trackman practice session yesterday where I was playing about with launch and dynamic loft.

This is what a punchy shot with a 7 iron feels like to me. A standard shot would for me would launch around 19 with a dynamic loft of around 22. That’s with a 31 degree 7 iron

OK, I'm starting to get my head around it now.
I didn't take my 7 iron, but I had my 6 iron
6 iron was around 21° to 24° launch
4 Hybrid was around 14° to ° 16 launch

The shafts have different kick points as well
No two shafts are the same.
So a stiff shaft might leave the head open ..a bit more loft.
A Reg shaft might close quicker so less loft.
A Trackman session with a pro to talk you through it would be very informative.

Those launch angles are what I was getting with 8 & 9 iron at my last Trackman. My 6 iron was launching more like 15°. But then my irons are extremely strong (7 iron is 27.5) so if yours are much weaker it might work out pretty similar.
