On the assumption that you do regular tests now. Will you buy the tests continue to test even if not showing symptoms

Logically I'd prob get a box .. if any of us feel rough quick test

And test before meeting up with family / friends

Why do I have this image of Del Boy selling a suitcase full of lateral flow tests claiming they were flown here directly from Albania?

Voted Yes. My parents are very elderly and both have health issues. When I see them I'll be testing myself before I go. Can't stand the thought that I might give it to them without even doing something as simple as an LFT.

I don't quite fit the question in that I do not regularly test now. If I show symptoms after April 1st then I would buy a lft though. I would not want to knowingly pass this on.

My wife visits her mum in a care home and she has to test before each visit. Even if the care home change their strategy, I don't expect they will for some time yet, she would still test before visiting for quite a while. She would not want the guilt of knowing that she took covid into a care home, no matter that they were all triple, or quadruple, jabbed.

Yes…though as me and my Mrs provide care and support to a highly vulnerable individual I’m rather hoping that, as a matter of principle for wider than just ourselves, we will be able to get LFTs free.

Hmmmm. I pray that as a country we do not reap the harvest of this that we sow...and that the seeds currently being sown, re testing, fall on more fertile ground than currently seems to be, and likely become, the case.

I visit my Gran in a care home a few times a week and she and the residents on her floor are high risk. They hand out free kits so I'll continue to test before as I'd hate to be the cause of anyone ending up seriously ill, or worse. Apart from that I'd only take a test if I felt rough.

What pious twaddle. Moving on and taking personal responsibility for what an individual perceives as risky or not have been thoroughly discussed. A decision has been made and we have to abide by the changes implemented and everyone has to adjust and make their own calls. If circumstances change I am sure requirements will change accordingly and we'll adapt again

Boots to start selling tests at £6 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-60486323

I wonder if we're get another rush to stockpile like pasta and toilet rolls at the very start of all this

"Some countries have placed a price cap on Covid tests, such as Spain which has a £2.45 maximum price cap. In France, single tests retail sell for just over £1."

I accept that we can't go on forever providing free tests, but it's pretty disgraceful that they are going to be so expensive here compared to abroad. Don't know whether its profiteering or design to put people off testing, but either way, it's not right.

The article I read (sorry can't find it ATM) said it was £6 ATM and will reduce when they become not free anymore (April)

I wonder what the cost per unit is wholesale etc because for one no vat should be applied .. no extra costs should be applied

If their gonna cost they should litterally be no more than they cost to put on that shelf

Families and individuals already struggling to keep afloat, and who will be very hard hit by gas and electricity prices in a couple of months time, are not going to be able to afford to buy LFTs and little incentive to do so when they don’t have to, and even if inclined by their sense of personal responsibility won’t have accurate data on the prevalence of the virus in their community to inform their decision.

Easiest thing to do for the poorest is to reinstate the £20/week pandemic supplement to UC. That at least would go a good way to covering the cost of any LFTs, and when not required for that purpose would ease the burden brought on by increases in power costs.

Yes, if Mum gets Covid again it'll probably kill her. As such I test a lot, if I'm going to be seeing her. So I will carry on doing so.
