Language on Course

It depends on company. If I have been playing with mates the language will be more colourful than with strangers.

If I do curse it is usually self-deprication than anything else.

Same as this......I can have quite a colourful vocabulary at times....Especially with mates.....BUT........If im around strangers or indeed different company then i am very concious of what i say or speak...I become more aware of what perception they may get of me....I wouldnt like people to judge me by my cover.......... :(

So what you are saying is that..

You know that the use of "colourful" language is not really generally acceptable and, when you feel that the people you are with may not appreciate it, you are quite happy to moderate and talk "normally".

It's only with "mates" that you feel you must use unbecoming language. Does it make you feel good, feel big, one of the lads, or what?

You don't want people to judge you by your cover? Too late, your already judged

See leftie its because of your exact attitude that i would use this colourful language at times.....You havent a halo over your head by any chance do you? :(
People like you just judge what they see on the outside.....You've never met me dont know my background or anything nor have i you and thats fine i respect that.... but you still feel the need to judge what you cant see....Kind of sums up my point really!

"You havent a halo over your head by any chance do you?"

Not at all, but what I do have is one set of standards based on what I know is acceptable on the course, no matter who I'm playing with, and I try to stick to those standards (doesn't always work I admit).

"People like you just judge what they see on the outside"

I'm sure that if we met and played a round of golf we would get on fine. My point was that you know that bad language on the course is not generally acceptable but for some reason feel it's OK if you are with mates.
:D

"Kind of sums up my point really!"

Whatever!

Im sure we would get on fine leftie....Probably better than you think....My friends use it also....I dont see any harm in it as long as im not offending anyone which sort of brings me back to my point that it all depends on the company im in.....The truth of the matter is lots of people do things that are not generally acceptable on the course but it still happens.Leaving fag butts around greens spitting mobile phones litter just to name a few........Its the era that we're in...Live with it....Because long after you and I are pushing up daises its still going to be happening.......Even professionals are using this language...Its not as rare as you may like it to be!

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one otherwise we'll be here for a month ;)
