At Our municipal club the mens captain has a vote on the committee at meetings as does the mens vice captain yet the lady captain can be present at the meetings but she is not entitled to a vote ,surely this is wrong and the committee is living in the dark ages?can anyone help please,a confussed male committee member........

Check the club rules, which should say who is elected onto the committee, how long for and who can vote etc. If things are as they sound then the clubs rules almost certainly fall foul of the equality act which came in last October. It may be worth your committee (of which you are one) doing a bit of research.

Here's a link for starters: http://www.englishgolfunion.org/documents/Equality_Act_2010_Golf_Final__Aug_2010_.pdf

There also has to be a mechanism in place where a lady member can be the Club Captain if she has the required support

I do think they are falling foul of new legislation and to be honest what harm will it do. Decisions will still need a majority anyway and I don't see what the fuss is about in this day and age.

bit sexist there young man :D, the women did an excellent job in the commitee room at my old club, the way they cleaned it was first class :D

just because you have a lady captain doesn't mean that the majority of the committee will be women. even as captain she only has one vote and that probably only as a casting vote.
