Hi guys

After some advice please, looking at booking la manga in Spain for 3 nights in early feb

Just wondered if anybody had any tips or advice.

We are struggling to get flights into murcia so would be Alicante which is quite far so any tips on car hire or transfers would be appreciated.

We would play 2 of the 3 courses so what 2 would you play.

This would be my first golf break abroad so any info appreciated

Thanks

Murcia San Javier airport (MJV) is reverting to military use and a new airport at Corvero (RMU) will be serving Murcia from March. Its causing a lot of uncertainty hence why you might struggle for flights to Murcia.

Advice on La Manga would be stay in Las Lomas village (unless you have a villa sorted) and get an apartment rather than a townhouse. Principe Phillipe hotel isn't that great and full of Ra Ra types.

I would play South and West courses personally. West is a great test with tight pine tree lined fairways and a meander up the hill. 18th is played from an elevated tee which looks more daunting than it is.
South is a wide open resort course with lots of water and big greens. A lot like the North course but better IMO.

Shuttle buses run to get you around the resort.

For eats, Asia serves decent Chinese and Japanese fare and Dharma is an Indian that is superb. These are La Manga Club run but there are independents there too. Great wee tapas place on the end of the block from Asia.

Not sure of course condition at that time but should be playable.

Thanks for the reply, very much appreciated.

You say your unsure of course condition, is there a chance it could be closed or unplayable?

I've Played La manga a few times and it's a great resort track, we played it in October and march both times it was in good nick, if your struggling for flights into murcia due to the change of use with the military give it a miss and fly into malaga and stay and play La Carla which is also nice although a bit tougher than la manga!

San Javier closes on the 14th Jan, and Corvera opens the following day. The outstanding issue is car hire. None of the car hire companies have set up their websites for Corvera yet. Corvera is listed as Murcis International(RMU) on Easyjet etc. San Javier is listed as Murcia(MJV). All the infrastructure checks, and appropriate licences, including ILS, were granted months ago.

Go ahead and book.
