Golf in and around the Malaga area

I'm going to Malaga for a week in January and will be taking my clubs along with a view to playing 2/3 rounds of golf. Does anyone have any recommendations of decent golf courses that are easy to get to from Malaga? And would I need to book a round well in advance or just see what the weather is like and book the day before? I've never played golf abroad so any advice much appreciated

I would say it’s about 20/30 mins away from central Malaga .

Guadalorce and El Parador are both close to Malaga Airport - if you want a quality course head down to Torrequebrada - it's just past Benalmedena. You can get a the Renfe train down and then grab a short cab journey to the course, or just get a taxi all the way from Malaga. UBER operate down there so you can get a price before you decide to get a taxi or train.
To be fair, most of the quality courses are a little further down the coast (beyond the end of the rail line) but for 2 or 3 rounds - those 3 should suffice. January will be pretty quiet so I'd imagine you can grab a green fee at short notice.
