The players really arent the issue for me currently, need a new top down approach with a change of coaches and a whole new attitude. If youve been watching on sky you'd tell them to offer Nasser as much money as he wants to be England head coach, talks far too much sense, sadly will never happen

I think Nasser being involved would be a great shout - would like to see Thorpe also involved still

Likewise Samit Patel, good player of spin and also a decent left arm option, weve called up 3 "all rounders" and hes still left at home, how Woakes for eg would be a better option in Bangladesh than Patel Ill never ever understand

Patel has consistently under performed for England when picked

There are two players over Somerset who have shown week in week out on T20 they would be perfect - Trego and Hildreath - neither have been given the opportunity.

The only concern I would have with Samit, who I have watched since he was 12 yo, is his mobility in the field particularly after our fielding performances in this tournament.

Woakes bowling would have been better suited to the Ashes tour.

Worrying thing is that the only other applicants for the coach's role are, apparently, Moores and Newell neither of whom promise anything more than Giles.

His stats stack up far better than plenty in the squad, espcially if you are looking at performances in Asia. Cant have Hildreth as good enough in T20 for sure, maybe in longer format but again not convinced. Trego an odd one, unlikely his form would translate from county cricket to international level but probably deserved a chance at some point a few years back (as did Darren Stevens from Kent for sure)

After Buttler's performances this winter the selectors might be reluctant to look at any other products of Taunton!

If Bopara can get chance after chance after chance - same with Dernbach then other players need and deserve the same chance .

Stevens did deserve a chance , plus plenty of others but i wouldnt go back to Patel

think you'll find they'll have him classified as a Lanky player already ;)

Yes but where did he play when selected?

As for the other two suggested by Liverpoolphil I think that, apart from any other factors, it is a little late for them.

He hasnt had a poor winter but hasnt had a great winter- scored some decent runs at times but hasnt steadied the ship at others - his keeping has massively improved which is great.

it is a little late for them both - hopefully they will be looking at the Overtons now and players like Gregory and Meschede.

You must be joking!

His keeping would not get him a place in a county Premier League club team and his batting this winter could best be described as patchy.

He had one missed stumping in the game against SA and thankfully even Bumble etc mentioned that his keeper has been excellent over the winter.

Think he has managed a total of just over 200 runs since the start of March -

Sorry but most of the written press have been agreed that his keeping could, at best, be described as a "work in progress".
Was not aware that Bumble was covering the T20.

Please no more South Africa A players, was Kieswetter not a lesson to the selectors.

It will be a work in progress - he is a young lad who had to sit behind Kieswetter for Somerset and grab his chances when he can - the boy is massively talented and needs a good polish of the edges and will be a very good player for us - he is only 23 so got a while yet.

That's fine and I would agree that he has masses of potential but I really don't see that the England team is the appropriate place for his development.

Well thats the development he needs - the development at the top level and players get it by playing in those matches. It wasnt because of Buttler and his keeping that we went home early - his development in the team hasnt held the team back
