I have a standard length putter with a fat grip - I am right handed but putt with my right hand below my left (so unconventional) - I press the top inch of the grip in to my watch strap which I wear on my left hand - this stabilises the club - in essence a "short" arm-lock method.

Works for me.

I'd try the arm-lock method but worry such a club would be too restrictive in that really long putts where you might want to introduce a bit of wrist would be tricky.

Like they would not abuse that rule............ My normal putt is with a 40" putter held 2" from the end. But I do now and again hold it down the grip. Just no way of actually enforcing a rule on this.
Yes people would.
It was just a suggestion but as with anything some players will abuse it.
Gentlemen’s game o_O

I was just playing the devils advocate......:devilish:

But anything you can think of to use as the rule can easily be abused and people will. We have all played with someone that is in the crap and insists that scuff mark from a shoe on the ground is a rabbit scrape.........:ROFLMAO:

I would ban it. You need to hold a golf club in your hands. Not clamp it to your arm. It is not right.

As for all the tech, it’s just marketing surely? Most of my best putters are from the 80’s. Sadly lacking in Teryllium inserts but they work perfectly!
