I had a game through at Troon today with my mates Ally, John and Kenny (KHW). We were playing the Lochgreen course. Well yesterday it poured down all day and it continued during the night. It was also blowing a hoolie ! Amazingly, the course was open and fit for play.
Off we went playing our wee format for our 'Winter Cup' outing. After nine holes it was looking good for Ally and I, we both had slender leads in the stableford format we were playing. Got to the 13th tee and Kenny launches a high flying ball with the wind behind it. Even off a forward tee the hole must have been 270 yds, all carry in those conditions. As we reached the crest of the hill, one of the group in front shouted over about the ball and we thought they had still been on the blind green. No, Kenny had holed out with his drive... a five pointer in our format. How do you come back from that when conditions are difficult.
Suffice to say, that gave him a lead over me that I was never able to eat in to. It also helped his team win our 'Winter Cup' outing this year.
